Senior Business Manager - US Global Payments Solutions Business Management
Buffalo, NY, US, 14210
Job description
Our purpose – Opening up a world of opportunity – explains why we exist. Here at HSBC we use our unique expertise, capabilities, breadth and perspectives to open up new kinds of opportunity for our more than 40 million customers. We’re bringing together the people, ideas and capital that nurture progress and growth, helping to create a better world – for our customers, our people, our investors, our communities and the planet we all share.
In compliance with applicable laws, HSBC is committed to employing only those who are authorized to work in the US. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. as HSBC will not engage in immigration sponsorship for this position.
The Senior Business Manager supports the US Global Payments Solutions (GPS) Business Management function, acting as a key operational partner to the US Head of Business Management and the broader US GPS leadership team. The role is central to how the business plans, reports, and executes — owning the narrative for senior audiences, setting the operating rhythm, driving the people agenda, and strengthening performance management across financials and workforce. The role also helps enable the GPS Sales organization by improving sales operating cadence, performance insight, and execution discipline to support revenue growth and client outcomes. This is a high-visibility role for someone who is analytically strong, comfortable synthesizing complexity for executive audiences, and motivated to improve how a business runs.
As our Senior Business Manager, you will:
- Own the narrative for the US GPS business — preparing clear, decision-ready materials and commentary for senior audiences, translating complex inputs into a concise story on performance, risks, and priorities
- Set and run the operating rhythm for the US business — owning the operating cadence and governance forums, tracking actions, driving follow-through, and ensuring leaders have the right information at the right time
- Drive the people agenda — supporting employee engagement and internal communications activity (including all-staff forums and the annual employee survey action plan), and partnering with stakeholders to translate feedback into measurable actions
- Lead simplification and continuous improvement across business management processes — including automation and adoption of internal AI tools to streamline analysis, reduce manual effort, and create capacity
- Own business performance management across financials, workforce, and reporting — leading the annual operating plan and revenue forecasting cycle (coordinating submissions, tracking performance vs plan, and analyzing variance drivers), owning headcount planning/approvals and workforce governance (maintaining a single source of truth for cost and resourcing decisions), and building dashboards and analytics that give leadership clear visibility into performance (Power BI, Power Query, Excel)
- Enable the GPS Sales organization by setting and supporting core sales operating routines (e.g., pipeline/forecast reviews, performance reporting, and action tracking) and delivering sales performance insights (e.g., pipeline health, conversion, activity, and client targeting where available), surfacing trends, risks, and opportunities to strengthen execution discipline and leadership decision-making
- Partner front-to-back across the US GPS organization — connecting Sales and Servicing, Product and Platform, Operations, Finance, Risk/Compliance, and other key teams to align priorities, unblock issues, and deliver cross-functional initiatives that improve client outcomes and business performance
- Contribute to ad-hoc strategic initiatives, analyses, and problem-solving for US GPS leadership
Qualifications
You’ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:

- Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong technical and analytical skills, including Data Visualization, AI, Excel, PowerPoint, Visual Basic and macros
- Understanding of the Sales process, deal lifecycle and CRM
- Experience within financial services
- Experience in Cash Payments is desirable but not essential
As an HSBC employee, you will have access to tailored professional development opportunities to ensure you have the right skills for today and tomorrow.
