HSBC is looking for an experienced Commercial Loan Closer to manage the documentation and closing of a diverse, complex portfolio of commercial banking transactions, including syndicated deals. You’ll take ownership from assignment through closing, working with internal partners and external counsel to deliver accurate, timely, compliant loan closings.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring transactions are closed accurately, on time, and in line with HSBC procedures and regulatory expectations—helping protect the bank while enabling clients’ deals to complete smoothly.
As our Assistant Vice President (AVP) Commercial Loan Closer, you will:
- Review approved credit terms, including key financial components, and ensure documentation aligns to approvals
- Complete system checks and due diligence reviews to support a smooth closing process
- Draft loan documentation in line with approved credit terms, policy, and credit standards
- Identify issues early, propose practical solutions, and work with the business to resolve operational or legal risks
- Engage and direct external lending counsel (as needed) to prepare documents to required standards
- Close loans in line with established procedures, including:
- funding and booking
- confirming fees/expenses are accurate, documented, and collected
- ensuring HSBC security interests are properly perfected
- Coordinate closing activity across relationship managers, internal/external attorneys, and borrower’s counsel
- Transmit complete and accurate loan information to Servicing to enable effective post-close administration
- Escalate where requirements can’t be met and propose alternative scenarios to enable closing
You´ll likely have the following skills to succeed in this role:
- Paralegal certificate or Bachelor’s degree (business or related field) — or equivalent experience
- Progressive commercial loan closing experience within a bank or financial institution, including hands-on experience closing syndicated loans
- Strong working knowledge of commercial loan documentation, commercial loan products, risk management, and servicing principles
- Understanding of relevant state laws governing commercial mortgages
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage high volume transactions at any time
- Confident decision-making and problem-solving skills, able to work independently and leverage attorneys and business partners effectively
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Your final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and several variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.
