The Model Risk Management function is looking to hire a Senior Manager, Independent Model Review. The successful candidate will be part of the second line of defence and will play an integral role to independently validate, review and challenge models develop by model owner, and perform other MRM activities to ensure the models are operating efficiently specifically for Climate Risk.

In this role you will:
- Independently validate the ESG, climate and nature risk models developed by the first line of defence (FLoD) by preparing independent model review reports in accordance with the Global Model Risk Policy and Procedure.
- Analyse the conceptual soundness of the underlying theory and the suitability of the use for its intended purpose, relevance and completeness of data, qualitative information and judgements, model performance, documentation, and implementation of the model.
- Confidently communicate findings to senior stakeholders, first line of defence and wider teams in a clear and concise manner.
- Support the Function Lead by ensuring that potential model risk issues, impacts to risk appetite, Internal and external audit findings and regulatory issues are managed appropriately and escalated in a timely manner as required.
- Validate remediation activities completed by the FLoD to ensure appropriate resolution of identified issues.
- Support the team in developing internal capabilities in ESG, Climate and Nature Risk model, by staying update on emerging regulatory requirements and industry practices, and tracking the evolution of new methodology.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Must have prior experience in developing or validating models with thorough familiarity of the overall modelling process related to ESG, Climate Risk or Nature Risk.
- An understanding and familiarity with the Climate/ Nature Scenario Analysis, ESG scorecard, Catastrophe Modelling or Climate Impact Modelling.
- With a quantitative background with comprehensive knowledge of statistical modelling
- Proficiency in Python
- Strong ability to communicate and lead on technical analysis. The successful candidate must be able to clearly and effectively communicate findings to wider teams and stakeholders.
This role is based in Birmingham, Edinburgh or Sheffield / hybrid.
