We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Manager Fraud Decisioning and Insights Mules and First Party Fraud

You will align to our Fraud Decisioning & Insights team within UK Fraud who are responsible for the day-to-day management of fraud across the business, ensuring that our fraud detection systems are fully optimised to detect fraud against HSBC UK and its customers. Where fraud occurs, the Decisioning & Insights team are also responsible for understanding the root cause of any fraud attack, identifying any control weaknesses or failures and escalating these to the appropriate control owner and the Fraud Control Design & Delivery team.

In this role you will:

  • Ensure routines are developed and undertake in-depth analysis of fraud patterns then develop and implement enhanced strategies within our fraud detection systems across the Mules and First Party Fraud typology;
  • Lead the ongoing monitoring of the fraud detection systems across this core fraud typology to ensure that they are performing optimally and in line with appetite;
  • Lead on the management of any flash fraud attacks on behalf of the Fraud Decisioning & Insights team impacting their specific typology/business area;
  • Interpret and manipulate large data sets to extract trends and identify issues and risk;
  • Manage a team of 5, ensuring that detailed root cause analysis is undertaken to identify control and/or process/procedure failings that are driving fraud attacks, escalating to the process/control owner and the Fraud Control Design & Delivery team to ensure that any required changes can be developed and implemented;
  • Develop and implement routines to work closely with the operational teams to ensure that any fraud alerts generated have an appropriate treatment strategy dependent upon the risk identified.

 

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Proven expertise at management level within an existing Fraud Analytics/Fraud Strategy team, ideally within Financial Services
  • Detailed knowledge of payments, cards and account opening processes is essential;
  • Experience of working with Fraud Detection systems such as SAS EFM, FEEDZAI, Biocatch, Hunter and Threatmetrix is essential;
  • Knowledge of using, calibrating and optimising fraud detection tools;
  • Understanding what best in class fraud analytics/routines look like;
  • Experience of working across multiple fraud typologies and engaging with senior level stakeholders.

 

This is a Hybrid role and can be based in various UK locations including Birmingham, Leeds or Chester.
