We focus on creating an environment that encourages our people to speak up and do the right thing, as well as protecting our customers, the organisation, and the integrity of the financial markets in which we operate.

As a Senior Manager, you’ll be an integral part of the Risk & Compliance team responsible for providing financial crime guidance and advice to colleagues on financial crime matters involving WPB products, advising on, supporting and overseeing the implementation of financial crime controls and risk management activities in compliance with HSBC UK’s regulatory requirements and industry best practices.  Financial Crime covers a wide array of risk areas including Money Laundering (ML), Counter Terrorist Financing (TF), Proliferation Financing (PF), Sanctions, Export Controls, Anti-Bribery and Corruption (AB&C), Tax Transparency and Fraud.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Challenging 1LOD when risks, issues and breaches arise, supporting completion of timely and appropriate risk management actions and escalating concerns and emerging issues.
  • Conducting Financial Crime risk assessments and evaluating control design against applicable regulatory obligations relative to WPB UK’s business.
  • Advising on operational controls and contributing to change initiatives aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of Financial Crime risk management.
  • Assessing the effectiveness of Financial Crime activities undertaken by a third party (internally or externally) related to WPB’s products, to assess whether risks are being managed appropriately and in accordance with relevant regulation.
  • Building strong stakeholder relations with WPB First Line of Defence (1LOD) teams.
  • Developing and maintaining a good understanding of the WPB products, channels and business that support our customers.
  • Representing Financial Crime at relevant governance meetings.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders (across all Lines of Defence) to strengthen Financial Crime monitoring and reporting capabilities.
  • Assessing and advising 1LOD on applicability and potential impact of regulatory developments.
  • Providing clear direction, inclusive leadership, and support to the FC WPB Product team to deliver the bank’s objectives and good outcomes for our customers and the bank, in compliance with our regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • Strong experience and understanding of Financial Crime risks and control framework and an ability to analyse and interpret regulatory requirements and expectations and clearly articulate implications for the business and its products. Strong Fraud knowledge would be beneficial.
