We are currently seeking an individual to join the team as Senior Manager Capital Management and Stress Testing reporting into the Head of Stress Testing.
This role offers a broad range of responsibilities and the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to key stress testing deliverables and decision-making.
The role involves leading HSBC UK’s internal and external stress testing submissions, including delivery of regulatory stress tests to the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA).
You’ll own the end-to-end execution approach within CM&ST, proactively engaging stakeholders across Treasury, Risk, Finance, the UK business and Group ensuring cohesive planning, high-quality outputs, and timely submissions are taken through senior levels of governance.
You’ll also represent HSBC UK in Group-wide working groups, driving outcomes and providing robust challenge through strong stakeholder management.

In this role, you will: -
- Lead internal and external stress test delivery: Lead the end-to-end planning and execution of HSBC UK stress testing activity (internal and external), ensuring submissions are timely, complete, well-evidenced and robustly challenged through the appropriate governance.
- Capital plans: Prepare gross and net capital plans and coordinate with RRP office to select management actions clearly articulating the rationale.
- ICAAP and Internal Capital Planning Buffer: Support the production and ongoing maintenance of HSBC UK’s ICAAP, with a particular focus on the calculation, and governance of the Internal Capital Planning Buffer.
- Insightful, value-add analysis and governance: Translate stress testing and capital outputs into clear, decision-useful insight, incorporate regulatory change, identifying portfolio vulnerabilities and key risk concentrations to inform strategy, dividend generation capacity, pricing under stress and risk appetite. Produce concise, well-evidenced packs and governance papers, and present key messages, drivers and recommended actions at relevant HSBC UK forums.
- Regulatory engagement: Own the risk ownership of STDF actuals and annual returns submission to the PRA and manage associated queries, Dear CFO letters and Harmony escalations.
- Risk Management: Continually reassess the operational risks, own the RCAs, compliance with BCBS, Helios controls and responsible for HSBC UK Control framework.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Build and maintain strong, proactive relationships across Treasury, Risk, Finance, Group and the UK business to align expectations, inputs and timelines, and to resolve issues quickly. Remain flexible to support the wider capital agenda, contributing to related deliverables and ad hoc analysis as required.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements: -
- Stress testing and Treasury experience: Demonstrable experience leading or coordinating internal and external stress test submissions within a Treasury environment, with strong knowledge of capital management, liquidity, recovery planning, governance and regulatory expectations.
- Commercial mindset and Problem solving: Commercially minded with experience in a commercial or business partnering role to hold confident credible conversations, review and challenge outputs, and translate technical stress testing topics into simple/ clear business implications, actions and decisions. Ability to navigate ambiguity, prioritise effectively and keep delivery moving at pace.
- Strong stakeholder management: Builds effective relationships and delivers through influence across matrixed stakeholder groups.
- Produce and present high-quality outputs: Proven ability to produce high-quality governance materials for senior audiences and communicate complex outputs clearly and concisely to senior and non-technical stakeholders.
- Delivery discipline and control mindset: Strong planning, tracking and reporting capability (run books, RAID, milestones). Understand risk management and control frameworks.
- Tools: Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); MI systems (TM1, CART, Saracen), working knowledge of Workviva, Helios, Harmony, RRIS.
- Qualified accountant/ Finance/ Treasury qualification (or equivalent experience): ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CFA, ACT, CertBalm or qualified by experience
