Senior Legal Counsel - Secured Lending

We’re currently seeking an experienced professional to join our Lending Legal team in the role of Senior Legal Counsel.

Take on a pivotal legal role at the heart of our UK mortgage business. You’ll provide commercially focused advice on high-impact initiatives, manage legal risk, and guide the business through regulatory and operational change. You’ll collaborate with Senior Leaders, influence strategy, and help deliver innovative solutions that drive growth, protect the bank and improve customer outcomes.

In this role you’ll:

• Provide expert legal advice across all aspects of the secured lending/mortgage business, ensuring commercially sound and pragmatic solutions
• Act as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders, influencing strategic decisions and supporting business growth
• Manage legal and regulatory risk, identifying issues early and guiding the business through complex challenges
• Lead and support change initiatives, including regulatory development, operational developments, and innovation projects
• Build strong partnerships across Legal and the wider mortgage business, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

• UK Qualified lawyer with extensive experience in mortgages or property matters, with a solid understanding of UK land and financial services law.
• Strong knowledge of mortgage / secured lending products and the UK Regulatory environment
• Proven ability to provide commercially focused advice and manage competing priorities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with confidence operating in complex environments.
• Innovative and solutions-focused mindset, with the ability to drive improvements and adapt to change.
