We're one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with a network that covers more than 50 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and ultimately, helping people fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Lead Product Owner - Mortgage Pricing.

This is a hybrid working role with a base location of Birmingham, Leeds, Sheffield, or Chester. You'll join a high-profile team at the forefront of Mortgage Pricing strategy, helping shape customer propositions and drive growth across one of HSBC UK's most important lending portfolios.

This is a key specialist leadership role within our Customer Intelligence team, responsible for shaping, implementing and continuously optimising Mortgage Pricing capabilities across the portfolio. Playing a critical role in delivering lending growth, you will combine deep mortgage market expertise, commercial judgement, and advanced analytics to drive competitive customer propositions, sustainable portfolio performance, and disciplined returns, whilst ensuring compliance with regulatory and risk requirements.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you'll have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

In this role you will:

  • Build and enhance pricing models, elasticity analysis, scenario testing and forecasting to support pricing decisions and performance outcomes
  • Develop and manage mortgage pricing across new business, product transfers and retention, balancing customer value, competitiveness, profitability, and risk-adjusted returns alongside other key performance indicators
  • Translate funding, capital, liquidity, and credit risk considerations into effective product-level pricing recommendations
  • Monitor competitor activity, market trends, and customer behaviour, turning insight into timely pricing actions and clearly explaining trade-offs, sensitivities, risks and expected outcomes to senior stakeholders
  • Provide commercial insight and clear recommendations to senior stakeholders, outlining risks, trade-offs, and expected business impacts
  • Continuously improve mortgage pricing capability through data, automation, and process enhancements to support growth and customer outcomes
  • Ensure pricing models are appropriately governed, monitored, and maintained, identifying performance issues early and taking timely action to avoid adverse impacts.
  • Partner with Product and Finance teams to enable effective pricing governance, including approvals, controls, monitoring and post-implementation review, while supporting compliance with Consumer Duty, fair value, responsible lending and internal risk policies.
  • Work closely with the Financial Modelling team to define, challenge and maintain aligned assumptions across pricing and financial models, ensuring consistency in forecasts, scenarios and commercial decision-making.
  • Act as the subject-matter expert for mortgage pricing, continuously identifying opportunities to achieve best-in-class capability, automate decisioning and strengthen portfolio performance through data, experimentation and process improvement.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Extensive experience in UK mortgage pricing, product management, portfolio management, commercial finance, or a closely related lending discipline (essential)
  • Deep knowledge of mortgage products, customer segments, distribution channels, retention strategies, and mortgage profitability drivers
  • Strong understanding of funds transfer pricing, swap curves, liquidity and capital costs, credit risk, expected loss, margin, and risk-adjusted return measures
  • Advanced analytical and modelling capabilities with experience using pricing tools and data platforms such as SQL, SAS (essential), Python, GCP, BigQuery or Looker
  • Ability to interpret market and portfolio data, assess elasticity and sensitivities, and translate complex analysis into commercial pricing decisions
  • Excellent stakeholder management, influencing and communication skills, with the ability to provide constructive challenge and make recommendations under pressure (essential)
  • Strong knowledge of UK mortgage regulation, Consumer Duty, fair value principles, responsible lending, pricing governance and model and data controls
