The role of the Head of (HPC) Hand Grid Services is to be responsible for the ownership of the enterprise Grid strategy and operationally responsible for the offerings and staff associated with those environments.
Hybrid Integration Platform (HIP) plays an important role in supporting applications that underlies the Bank's services. There are plenty of opportunities to work at the forefront of technology and work on innovative solutions for the Bank. You will be supporting the provision of HPC/Grid services and enable growth for the business through expanded use of Grid for Business growth and Global Standards related activities. You will be working with HPC / Grid Technology. This role is a direct report of the Global HIP domain lead and a member of the HIP leadership team. As the team is geographically dispersed across several countries, international travel may be expected, budget permitting.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Ownership of the Enterprise Grid Strategy including contributing to HSBC’s public cloud strategy for compute provisioning
- Enhance the HPC and Grid Service level offerings, through re-definition, implementation of new policies and providing real-time MI to IT Service standards
- Work with CIB development teams on code optimization, performance tracking and optimisation and onboarding new business functions
- Functionally manage the team of Grid specialists around the world responsible for service implementation, configuration, maintenance and engineering of new and existing grid environments.
- Provide technical thought leadership in evaluation of new technologies to meet business requirements and influence key stakeholders leading to adoption.
- Review the HPC and Grid Services Architecture and operations in line with Security Architecture Principals and Policies including a review of data classifications within the end-to-end systems flows
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
- Experience working in relevant market/context, i.e. Investment Bank in a relevant role, i.e. Head of Grid Infrastructure
- Experience of using relevant software packages, i.e. Tibco Datasynapse GridServer, Analytics, Hardware Accelerators
- Experience of log analysis, data visualisation and performance analysis using tools such as Elastic, Kibana / Grafana, Splunk
- Experience of running large-scale HPC environments on public cloud (GCP / AWS) in IaaS, CaaS or PaaS architectures and must have experience of managing a Global based team
- A successful track record of leading significant and complex business programmes, overcoming challenges to consistently meet/exceed objectives and the ability to understand and interpret straightforward financial data
- Experience of using relevant software packages, i.e. In-Memory Distributed Data Caching/Grid is desirable but not essential
