We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Head of Financial Accounting, HSBC UK.



In this role, you will:


  • Responsible and accountable for Financial Accounting processes for HSBC UK Bank Plc (HSBC UK), covering period end close, financial reporting returns submitted to local, Group and the regulator, accounting controls and change management impacting Financial Control. 
  • You will be responsible for resolving accounting issues and finalising accounting judgements; implementing global solutions for new products and accounting / reporting changes. 
  • You will provide leadership across the Controllership function (including extended teams in India and Poland) to ensure all deliveries are met. 
  • You will be a key lead in the relationship with external auditors and you will provide support to the Financial Controller in local reporting and accounting issues.
  • You will be collaborating and engaging closely with other specialist areas within Finance (Accounting Policy, Regulatory Policy, Finance Operations, Treasury and Tax) in new product initiatives and provide leadership on change management areas impacting financial reporting.



To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:


  • Demonstrable accounting experience working within Financial Services (e.g., Bank) and/ or Professional Services (e.g., Big 4).
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, CA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of IFRS and ability to understand, interpret and analyse the impact of future changes.
  • Deep understanding of the Non-Financial Risk framework.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing change along with the ability to transform business processes, controls and adopt, integrate new digital technologies in the BAU processes.
  • Thorough awareness of regulatory environment.
  • Experience of directing, engaging, motivating and leading a large team.
  • Collaborative, engaging, credible and methodical; being able to bring the numbers, policy, strategy, initiatives and narrative to life (e.g., presenting management information to a wide range of stakeholders/ senior management).
  • Experience of building and maintaining strong relationships with senior stakeholders (all levels of seniority, businesses, and geographies).

 

The base location for this role will be Birmingham and with a hybrid working pattern.
