Job description

If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

We're one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with a network that covers more than 50 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We're currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Finance Analyst - HSBC UK Finance.

Within this role, you’ll sit at the heart of how HSBC UK reports performance and stays in control. In addition, you’ll own key parts of the period-end close, deliver high-quality financial and regulatory reporting (including IFRS, FINREP, GSIB and intercompany oversight), and be a primary contact for external audit and annual reporting so your work is visible, trusted, and deadline-critical. You’ll also partner closely with Finance, Risk, Compliance and senior stakeholders to shape priorities and key messages, write briefing papers for senior management/committees/Boards, and drive process improvements that enhance efficiency and strengthen the control environment, all while building breadth through HSBC UK subsidiaries oversight (including M&S) and developing others through coaching and knowledge-sharing.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you’ll have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

In this role you'll:

  • Run the period-end close for HSBC UK Financial Control, facilitating review, responding to challenge, and ensuring timely, accurate outputs
  • Produce key financial and regulatory reporting to HSBC UK/Group, including IFRS, FINREP, GSIB, and intercompany oversight (covering HSBC UK subsidiaries including M&S)
  • Review, challenge and submit regulatory returns, ensuring on-time submission and handling follow-up queries from the regulator
  • Manage external audit and annual reporting, acting as the primary contact, controlling the timetable, and coordinating issues and stakeholders through to delivery
  • Own core control/governance deliverables, including profit share calculations (tracking, query resolution, senior management reporting and related accounting) plus maintaining a robust control environment and driving process improvements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Finance Analyst experience within Financial Services, preferably in a Banking environment
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent)
  • Demonstrable experience working within a Finance function
  • Financial Accounting & Reporting experience
  • IFRS knowledge and experience
  • General ledger systems and finance processes experience
  • Experience of building, influencing, and maintaining strong relationships with senior stakeholders (storytelling and bringing the data/narrative to life)
