We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Director, Corporate Banking Special Credit Unit.

 

In this role you will:

 

Be responsible for protecting the Bank’s balance sheet whilst safeguarding the Bank against reputational and other non-financial risks. This includes liaising with the First Line of Defence and Wholesale Credit Risk to identify customers that are in a state of financial stress or distress, and working together to mitigate such risks often by way of restructuring of the facilities provided and/or oversight of strategic reviews and turnarounds.

 

This will include:

 

•Understanding the customer’s business (including face to face customer meetings).

•Making a full assessment of all relevant internal & external risks quickly & efficiently according to the priority level.

•Considering, creating & implementing appropriate strategies/action plans.

•Optimising facility structures.

•Minimising impairments/maximising recoveries.

•Navigating the inevitable challenges of distressed case management.

•Overseeing or leading negotiations with key stakeholders (management / lenders / shareholders / advisors) in a constructive manner, achieving consensual solutions where possible.

•Ensuring the fair treatment of our customers is at the heart of everything we do.

 

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

 

•Restructuring experience, principally restructuring underperforming loans.

•Robust credit and analytical skills with significant focus on Reputational Risk and the Bank’s integrity.

•The ability to assimilate information rapidly and identify key risks with the ability to achieve results through others and influence key decisions makers.

•Strong negotiation skills, including the ability to exercise judgement and show evidence of being able to operate with Courageous Integrity.

•The ability for effective succinct internal communications both within the team and upwards to executive management, including the ability to convey messages effectively.

 

This role can be based in Birmingham, London, Bristol or Reading (Hybrid).
