They also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world’s leading international bank. Our multi-disciplined teams include DevOps Engineers, IT Architects, Front and Back End Developers, Infrastructure specialists, Cyber experts, as well as Project and Programme managers.

 

Role Purpose:

This role is required to provide Regional Leadership of all Data Centres (both colocation & in-house) and Equipment Rooms across the Europe region (excluding UK) as well as supporting the global Data Centre function with driving continuous improvement in Data Centre processes and controls to maintain the integrity of Data Centre services. It includes accountability for the continuous operation, evolution of the infrastructure and floor management practices. Removes obstacles and roadblocks that hinder the Data Centre teams progress, support the Data Centre Product Owner in maintaining the Product Backlog, manage conflict and embeds agile principles. A strong interface and relationship management with the local Data Centre teams, Corporate Services, wider infrastructure, Physical Security and third-party colocation vendor teams is required.

 

Focus is on operating and maintaining the uptime of the critical environments on a 24/7/365 basis ensuring minimal disruption to service due to infrastructure failure. The role will provide leadership, technical support and motivation across the Wider Europe region and be responsible for the adoption of the highest standards and best practice throughout the facilities. 

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • 24/7/365 Operational management of the Data Center Infrastructure, with a focus on technical, operational, mechanical and electrical resilience.
  • Physical security and access control of the Data Centers and equipment rooms across all data centre, head offices, colocation, branch and campus locations where data centers and equipment rooms are located.
  • Laser focus on Change Management, coordinating and managing safe changes to infrastructure, with strict adherence to HSBC controls and drive continuous improvement in Data Centre processes and controls.
  • Accountable for owning the Data Centre Operations Health Dashboard, including the required evidence both regionally and globally and Data Centre controls compliance across Wider Europe.
  • Close collaboration with internal and external parties to uphold the integrity of the Mechanical and Electrical infrastructure whilst working with our third-party Colocation vendors to ensure we get an excellent service and value for money.
  • Provide technical support during Incidents and subsequently to Problem Management across Wider Europe.
  • Ensure the right technical expertise is selected for project management and/or operational support (e.g. cabling, relocation vendors).
  • Oversee and manage regional projects (new data centers, relocations & demises).
  • Provide financial planning for capital and operational expenses along with Governance of tape/media inventory & movement.

 



Experience & Qualifications:

 

  • Good knowledge of Data Centre Infrastructure including Mechanical and Electrical Management
  • Strong experience in IT Infrastructure Hardware, Hosting, Inventory Management, Lifecycle management
  • Good understanding of Principles of Financial Planning, Capital Projects and Depreciation
  • Good Relationship Management, Line Management and Leadership background
  • Strong experience in Operational and Reputational Risk Management and Governance
  • Sustainability Leadership
