Principal responsibilities

  • Oversee and ensure cash, expenses, FXs and trade matching and settlement services in respect of Investment Operations activities are completed and instructed to client’s custodians for settlement within strict deadlines.
  • Overseeing trading-related operations, including trade support, valuation, and reporting. 
  • Monitoring and managing various risks associated with trading activities, market data, and financial transactions.
  • Improving efficiency and effectiveness of middle office operations, including trade processing, reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Managing and monitoring teams of analysts and associates, providing guidance and direction.
  • Ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies and procedures.
  • Providing operation support for trading activities, including trade validation, modification, and cancellation. Including monitoring corporate action and reconciliation.
  • Ensuring accuracy and completeness of any reporting requirement related to trading and other middle-office activities.
  • Supporting client’s front-office trading desks by ensuring trade accuracy, managing corporate actions, and handing post-trade processing.
  • Leading or participating in projects aimed at improving middle-office systems and processes.
  • Represent team to participate in various change management and transformation projects to ensure up-to-date knowledge on the overall infrastructure development and corporate changes.
  • Take control of all communication in respect of client implementations within Investment Operations
  • Proactively identifying & resolving processing model gaps & inefficiencies whilst ensuring a globally consistent operating model and participate in various change management and transformation projects
  • Manage User Acceptance of new or upgraded software as required, under guidance of the relative project or IT team.
  • Continually re-assess the operational risks inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology. Update and maintain all procedural documentation accordingly.
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with internal stakeholders (front office, back office) and potentially external clients.

 

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications

  • Completed bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in business, Accounting, Financing, MBA or related fields.
  • Minimum 8 years of diverse working experiences in Fund Accounting, Middle Office or financial institution, including strong process management skills and system implementation skills within an Asset Manager or equivalent market provider of Asset Management outsourced Operations support.
  • Experience in managing the post-trade life cycle events with exposure to CTM, SWIFT, Tradeflow, Bloomberg and Markit EDM data enrichment tooling would be an advantage.
  • A working knowledge of Securities Trading confirmation and settlement procedures and market practice, including the use of Electronic Trade Confirmations and SWIFT settlement message types.
  • Extensive experience of leading and developing teams using appropriate communication, delegation and planning skills
  • Excellent communication skills to clearly articulate issues and ideas with different levels across operations and stakeholders.
  • Strong inter-personal and negotiation skills to motivate and engage with subordinates, colleagues and senior business leaders
  • Strong knowledge of all financial instruments – fixed income, equities and cash products including OTC Derivative products
  • Strong Knowledge of implementation delivery and project management planning
  • Full knowledge of investment workflows – funds, custodians, and brokers
  • Good influencing skills to work with the Operations team in challenging the status quo and continuously enhancing the control environment
  • Strong business sense with good decision making and problem-solving ability
  • Good team player with self-motivation, excellent planning, organizing & prioritization skills
  • Able to work in a diverse environment with good interpersonal and negotiation skills
