Business Risk Manager

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Business Risk Manager.  The person will manage financial crime risk and business regulatory risk pillars in Corporate and Institutional Banking COO, Business Risk team. 

This role will strengthen business risk management and effective operation of end-to-end processes and systems that support the risk and control framework.  Success will be achieved through well-implemented procedures and embedment of a strong risk culture, oversight of key risks and control indicators, and effective remediation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee business risk and controls across CDD, sanctions, AML, fraud, bribery & corruption, tax evasion, and regulatory compliance.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for frontlines by providing guidance and training on financial crime and business regulatory risks and controls related matters.
  • Ensure robust deployment and ongoing management of business risk policies and procedures. 
  • Collaborate with business and functional stakeholders at country, regional and Global levels to implement business risk initiatives and manage deliverables.
  • Monitor risk and control indicators, facilitate controls resolution, and ensure escalation when required. 
  • Provide performance update relating to controls and issues to the Business Risk and Control Forum and Risk Management Meeting.
  • Participate in business risk related working group meetings and governance forums.
  • Manage compliance assurance and audit reviews as well as issues and actions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Minimum 5 years in financial institutions or risk management roles.
  • Good understanding of risk management and controls around financial crime and local regulatory guidelines applicable to HSBC Thailand Banking.
  • A sound knowledge of Banking customers and banking products and services such as credit and lending, trade and payment products, systems and processes.
  • Experience in advising and providing guidance on risk management activities.
  • Ability to influence and engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize while under pressure whilst adhering to timelines and quality of output.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
