We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Vice President – Operations Non Financial Risk, Asset Servicing.
In this role you will:
- The role holder will be accountable for the delivery of the operations risk strategy & culture for their Operations business line within Asset Servicing. The role holder will be responsible for implementing strong risk management processes and frameworks, proactively supporting the Operations business line within risk appetite.
- They will work with the Operations and NFR teams to run weekly and monthly governance forums, facilitate meetings and bring accountability to Control Owners and Senior Leaders in attendance.
- The role holder will play a key role in delivering the strategy and execution of all risk management activities within the Asset Servicing Operations utility within MSS Operations through exceptional governance and management of a robust and effective control framework across a locationally diverse Operations team. Working within the governance framework, the role holder must support their business line to provide clear sight of emerging risks and incident trends across their function, resulting in proactive and timely responses.
- The role holder will be the principal point of contact for non-financial risk and control matters for the Asset Servicing Operations utility within MSS Operations, providing seamless coverage across both Markets and Securities Services processes. They will work closely with management in the GSCs and HUBs to provide commercially based monitoring of risks, services and processes against agreed group/functional standards and external requirements.
- They will also define and oversee the operation of relevant controls for the Asset Servicing Operations utility across MSS Operations. They will review existing controls and enhance, streamline, develop or replace controls as necessary.
- The role holder will deliver against the MSS Operations NFR Book of Work, specifically to improve the risk and control landscape relevant to the Asset Servicing Operations and the wider NFR strategy in MSS Operations.
- The role demands the ability to work and build rapport with multiple levels of stakeholders (up to MD) across MSS hubs, regional sites and GSC locations.

- The role holder will proactively engage with the 2LoD and 3LoD teams, where appropriate, acting as the key interface to MSS Operations, and supporting Operations management in setting strategy and direction for remediation of high-risk findings to ensure similar risk issues are proactively mitigated across MSS Operations.
To be successful you will -
- Undergraduate or post-graduate degree level in Accountancy, Finance, Economics or related field.
- Good working knowledge of non-financial risk management framework, controls, capabilities, and governance.
- Experience and understanding of MSS Operations processes (min. 10 years), ideally including Asset Servicing / Corporate Actions Operations.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively and confidently at all levels, positive, challenging interactions with senior colleagues (Director and MD), to establish and maintain strong business relationships across multiple business lines and locations, and ability working in multi-disciplinary and culturally diverse work environments.
- Possess strong analytical background and critical thinker, sound judgement on sensitive/gray areas.
- Proven ability in involvement in large-scale, complex global/regional change programmes; to articulate complex issues concisely and in clear language; Flexibility to work different shifts depending on business requirements.
- Deep understanding of HSBC Group structures, values, behaviours, processes and objectives; knowledge of HSBC’s various Global businesses and functions; Excellent presentation, communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to influence senior stakeholders and peers alike. Ability to challenge processes and policies within their business line is critical for this role, along with solid leadership skills to support and enhance the speak up culture. The individual must be able to proactively drive forward strategic outcomes, with minimal oversight.
