We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Sr. Associate Director, Software Engineering Specialist.
In this role, you will:
- We are looking for an experienced Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with deep expertise in the banking and payments sector. In this role, you will act as a key link between software engineering and IT operations, ensuring that our payment gateways, clearing platforms, and core banking integrations remain reliable, scalable, secure, and highly available.
- You will use software engineering practices to address operational challenges, reduce manual effort through automation, and develop strong monitoring and observability capabilities. The ideal candidate combines a solid understanding of distributed systems and cloud infrastructure with hands-on knowledge of the payments ecosystem, including INSTANT Rail , ACH , SWIFT, ISO 20022, real-time clearing, and settlement processes.
- Reliability & Infrastructure- Define, monitor, and maintain Service Level Objectives (SLOs), Service Level Indicators (SLIs), and Error Budgets for critical payment microservices and legacy banking systems. Design and implement scalable, highly available, and resilient infrastructure architectures across hybrid environments (On-premise and Cloud). Champion Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to automate the provisioning and configuration of environments.
- Build and maintain advanced observability, alerting, and telemetry systems to detect anomalies in transaction flows before they impact customers. Lead incident response for critical payment system outages, serving as the technical incident commander.
- Conduct blameless post-mortems and drive the implementation of preventative measures to permanently resolve root causes. Participate in a tiered on-call rotation to support 24/7/365 financial operations. Automation & CI/CD, Automate repetitive operational tasks (toil) to free up engineering time for high-value system improvements. Optimize and maintain CI/CD pipelines to ensure safe, secure, and rapid deployment of financial software into production.
To be successful, you will:
- 10+ years of experience as a Site Reliability Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or Systems Engineer. 15+ years of direct experience in the banking, financial services, or FinTech sector, specifically working with payment systems.
- Apply deep understanding of payment transaction lifecycles to troubleshoot bottlenecks in routing, clearing, and settlement engines. Ensure systems comply with stringent financial regulations, data and security standards. Partner with product and engineering teams to design reliable architectures for new payment rails (e.g., RTP, SWIFT GPI, SEPA).
- Strong understanding of domestic and cross-border payment networks (e.g., ACH, INSTANT FAST, SWIFT, SEPA). Familiarity with financial messaging standards, particularly ISO 20022. Understanding of transactional consistency, idempotency, and the unique challenges of distributed financial ledgers
- Programming/Scripting: Proficiency in Go, Python, Java, or Shell scripting for automation and tool building. Cloud & Containers: Expertise in Kubernetes, Docker, and major cloud providers (AWS, GCP ),IBM Websphere WAS ,MQ , Oracle ,DB2,My SQL. Infrastructure as Code: Hands-on experience with Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
- Observability Tools: Mastery of APM and logging tools (e.g., Datadog, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana). CI/CD: Experience with Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
