An exciting role has arisen for a motivated and adaptable individual to work within our Security Services (SSv) – Product Solutions space – within the Data & Reporting Product team as Senior Product Owner – Client Data (GCB 4) in our Bangalore office.

The Data & Reporting product team brings together the overall Client Data framework along with Reference & Static Data across data domains (as listed below) to create 360 view of our clients supporting various consumers with in SSv and HSBC Group supporting the wider strategic objective to develop a central Data Management capability.

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Product Owner – Client Data (GCB 4) to support the Product Head in the execution of strategy across Client Data domains to build a 360 view of our clients, parties, entities and consumers to better service our end clients, to automate onboarding, to product accurate KPI & MI. As this is a Data program, expectation is to automate end to end data flow by integrating with trusted source, creating a data services team to manage data exceptions and managing a book of work supporting multiple consumers across the Bank and ensure good Data Governance and controls are in place

In this role, you will:

  • Working closely with Product Heads, Business Heads, Trusted Source Owners, Chief Data Office & Project Delivery Manager to agree the requirements and ensure alignment to the wider DDI strategy.
  • Manage a team of Data leads, Business Analyst and consistently produce work of high quality aligned to the strategic goals by documenting requirements from business and ensuring ownership
  • Ensure appropriate strategic alignments tasks including analysis & solution design are performed as part of the project lifecycle including the development of process maps, operating models, business requirement documents, test and business migration plans
  • Help Product Head in building data products that can be commercialized to external clients.
  • Identify how to support the requirements using data sources both internal and external to HSBC recognizing any licensing restrictions that apply
  • Working with IT Data Architects to design and create a strategic client data solution
  • Agree and assist the end users with the creation of business procedures & an operating model.
  • Communicating and reporting effectively with all stakeholders, users and team members – providing regular updates regarding progress and taking ownership of potential conflicts of interest and priorities
  • Constructively raising key issues and risks
  • Identifying, recommending and delivering opportunities for improvements to enhance quality, efficiency and effectiveness of the deliverable
  • Continually assess the operational risks inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic and market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructures, and the impact of new technology
  • Understand the Data Strategy for Reference Data and play a pivotal role in implementing it in order to get the desired outcome.
  • Manage the escalations and monitor the backlog
  • Prioritize the book of work for Reference Data and manage the sprints to ensure delivery
  • Run consumer forums to gather Voice of Consumer and capture them accurately in the backlog in terms of a request.
  • Engagement with Operations, IT & Consumer stakeholders alike to ensure that all deliveries are met in a timely manner with the desired outcome
  • Create and maintain product metrics and present them to Product Heads at regular intervals
  • Be aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with the role and acts in a manner that takes account of and anticipates operational risk considerations.
  • Help define a support model for Data Products and ensures consumer escalations & issues are addressed on time.
  • Experienced in handling a small team and / or pods that deliver critical projects
  • Previous work experience in working in a new product development environment, designing and managing User Interphase and MI dash boards

To be successful you will:

Business

  • Strong background in Investment Banking and Fund Services, with knowledge of Reference & Static Data, and its application within these businesses
  • Good knowledge on Data Governance and Data Management
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to build strong relationships with other functions and business stakeholders, interfacing professionally and able to influence and negotiate at medium to senior levels
  • Proven success in team management roles, hiring & handling multiple projects covering all aspects outlined above
  • Experience in a similar role in a fast paced agile and scrum delivery environment
  • Self-starter, independent with good organizational skills
  • Security Services business knowledge is an added advantage
  • Knowledge of business architecture & modelling (e.g. Data Dictionary, Logical Data Model, Process Mapping)
  • Non-Financial Risk assessments (NFR) and controls
  • Client Data leakage prevention

Technical

  • Ability to research information and analyses data to arrive at valid conclusions, recommendations and courses of action
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Product management skills including use of JIRA and Confluence
  • An excellent level of analysis experience & knowledge of structured techniques
  • Ability to use resolution skills to negotiate “win-win” solutions
  • Excellent planning, organization skills and applying the group standards

What additional skills will be good to have?

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the change lifecycle
