We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Fund Administrator - Fund Accounting.
In this role, you will:
- Participate in and contribute to the deployment of defined business solutions to remove manual processes. Identify and reduce manual processes for enhanced operational control. Enable and implement technology upgradation. Lead User Acceptance Testing for the business (as and when required).
- Prepare and Reviewing Financial Statements, in accordance with local legal requirements and relevant accounting standards for the respective country, i.e. International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) or United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles or Local Generally Accepted Accounting Principles as applicable and within strict timelines.
- Enable the audit / review process as and when required along with support on other ancillary activities to the preparation and/or audit process. Extend strategic support to the Manager in the process and collaborate in perfect harmony to certify service level excellence. Identifying and Implementing opportunities for process efficiencies. Observe the Markets Securities Services clients’ service level agreements, internally and upwardly communicating delays and issues. Participate in and contribute to the production of regular internal reports for management information, including the preparation of Key performance indicators.
- To maintain HSBC internal control standards including the timely implementation of audit points. Update all daily Management information system / trackers as required by the process. Take measures to complete all Mandatory training as and when required. Responsible for ensuring a timely follow up on the open & outstanding issues that hinder the valuation.
- Responsible for ensuring that the Escalation Matrix is followed as agreed between Business Partners and Markets Securities Services Kolkata/Bangalore. Undertake/participate in projects for improvement in delivery quality and/or timeliness. Identify and reduce manual processes for enhanced operational control. Enable and implement technology upgradation.
- Continually raising the risks that have been identified / observed in department processes and procedures. Enable the audit process and recommendations in a timely manner. Perform the fund’s activities correctly as per the Standard operating procedure, Checklist and controls. To share process-related best practices with the team.
- Actively applying principles in daily work practices. Provide participation and support for initiatives led by another team. Perform any additional responsibilities that may be required by the Supervisor in support of the on-going management and development of the division. Be involved in the project / support related activities as and when it arises.
- Undertake/conduct training/cross training for all staff including existing and new staff. Be proactive in identifying root causes for process related challenges and share qualitative resolution. Be flexible to adopt in different working environment with counter parts across the globe. Demonstrate Group Values & principles.
To be successful, you will:
- Professional qualification in the fields of Accounting like CA, ICWA, CFA and CS with relevant working experience. Strong Excel and Word skills.
- 3-5 years of relevant Funds administration experience. Sound knowledge of various types of assets, Funds Administration and accounting services and understanding of valuations cycle, financial instruments, corporate actions and accounting concepts. An understanding of investment instruments and how they are processed for performance calculation purposes is required.
- Understanding of Cash reconciliation would be an added advantage. Knowledge of Bloomberg, Reuters and relevant data feeds would be added advantage. Strong Accounting Concepts with a clear understanding of financial statements. Decent knowledge in Accounting and Valuations process with clear understanding of the end-to-end Fund Accounting Model.
- Detailed understanding of single sub-process, control points, end to end process risk. Basic knowledge in custody, brokerage, depository, investment accounting, mutual funds, Corporate Actions, Financial Instruments and reconciliations. Will be expected to maintain HSBC internal control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, together with any issues raised by external regulators.
- Must be aware of the operational risk scenarios associated with this role and act upon pertinent risk. Ability to understand client and jurisdiction requirements and conform to them for all deliverables. Should have an eye for detail and a strong analytical mind.
- Efficient Time Management and ability to multitask work and prioritize to meet defined deadlines. Should be able to communicate effectively with overseas customers and employees. Proactive in accomplishing tasks without being asked to do so. Commerce graduate or postgraduate with relevant working experience.
- Must be aware of the operational risk scenarios associated with this role and act upon pertinent risk.
- Efficient Time Management and ability to multitask work and priorities to meet defined deadlines. Proactive in implementing and driving solutions. Ability to build excellent rapport and working relationship with other departments and jurisdiction thus ensuring smooth operations. Should have demonstrated behavior in line with HSBC values throughout.
