We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Regulatory Change Business Analyst/Project Manager.
In this role, you will:
- As a Business Analyst within HSBC’s NFR & Supervision function, you will play a central role in supporting the delivery of regulatory change and ensuring ongoing compliance across Markets & Securities Services. The position requires you to operate within HSBC’s established change framework, working to interpret and document both business and regulatory requirements. Your efforts will help ensure that data controls, reporting processes, and system designs are robust, effective, and aligned with both internal policies and external regulatory standards.
- You will work collaboratively with colleagues from a range of disciplines and geographies, fostering clear communication and shared understanding across the organisation. The role involves engaging with complex regulatory requirements and translating them into practical solutions that support HSBC’s commitment to compliance and operational excellence. By bridging the gap between technical detail and strategic objectives, you will contribute to the successful delivery of regulatory initiatives and the ongoing enhancement of HSBC’s control environment.
- Collaborate with business, technology, data, and compliance teams to analyse current processes and design enhancements that align with future state architectures and regulatory expectations; Review and assess existing control frameworks and supervisory practices against internal standards and external regulatory requirements, identifying and recommending actions to address any gaps.
- Conduct gap analysis to determine areas requiring remediation, including data sourcing and process improvements, and coordinate with relevant stakeholders to resolve identified issues; Define, document, and manage requirements backlogs for change initiatives, ensuring traceability and alignment with business objectives and regulatory obligations.
- Track, manage, and report on remediation and change activities across multiple platforms, ensuring timely delivery and effective risk mitigation; Support the execution of testing activities to validate that solutions meet defined requirements and regulatory standards, including the identification and triage of defects; Facilitate the transition of project deliverables to business-as-usual (BAU) teams, ensuring sustainable handover and closure of project-related warranties.
- Provide regular updates, analysis, and progress reports to project managers and senior stakeholders, supporting informed decision-making and effective governance; Proactively identify and resolve challenges related to requirements, controls, and data, engaging with stakeholders to agree on practical solutions Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulatory developments and HSBC’s NFR and supervision frameworks, ensuring continuous compliance and best practice adoption.
To be successful you will:
- 5–8+ years of experience, with a proven track record of delivering complex regulatory or risk-related change initiatives in a large, matrixed financial institution. Demonstrated leadership in stakeholder management, process improvement, and control frameworks is expected.
- Understanding of Regulatory Frameworks: Deep knowledge of global and local regulatory requirements impacting Markets & Securities Services (e.g., MiFID II, EMIR, Dodd-Frank, PRA/FCA rules); Demonstrates strong awareness of the regulatory environment, with the ability to interpret and apply non-financial risk (NFR) and supervision requirements to business processes and controls.
- Skilled in eliciting, documenting, and managing business and regulatory requirements, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and compliance obligations; Proficient in mapping, analysing, and enhancing existing processes to address regulatory expectations and close identified control gaps.
- Understands the design, assessment, and enhancement of internal control frameworks to mitigate non-financial risks and ensure ongoing compliance; Capable of proactively identifying, assessing, and escalating risks, issues, and dependencies in accordance with established risk management practices; Knowledgeable in data sourcing, quality assurance, and the integration of regulatory requirements into reporting and supervision processes.
- Supports the planning and execution of testing activities to confirm that solutions meet defined requirements and regulatory standards; Builds effective relationships with business, technology, compliance, and operational teams to facilitate clear communication and shared understanding.
- Experienced in supporting change initiatives from requirements definition through to implementation and transition to business-as-usual, ensuring traceability and sustainability; Maintains high standards of documentation, traceability, and adherence to governance protocols to support transparency and accountability.
