We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Planning Senior Analyst.
Purpose of the role
The Workforce Planning Analyst supports the shaping, enablement, and continuous improvement of enterprise workforce planning practices across Global Businesses (GB), Global Infrastructure (GI), and Geographic teams.
Working closely with the Planning Service Lead, this role helps maintain high-quality data, guidance, and workforce planning practices within a global organization.
The role partners closely with stakeholders across COO, CAO, Finance, and People functions to ensure workforce plans are aligned to business objectives, cost plans, and long-term strategy.
In this role, you will:
- Workforce Planning – Support design & technical enablement of workforce planning for GB/GI and geographic teams; collaborate with the PSI Workforce Planning team to shape strategy, tech & analytics; execute best‑practice processes & tools aligned with industry standards.
- Data, Technology & Analytics – Work with the Anaplan Centre of Excellence to develop & deploy workforce‑planning capabilities; ensure tools & analytics are fit‑for‑purpose, user‑centric & aligned to enterprise standards; produce standard reports & basic analysis for insights & decisions; use MS Excel & Power BI for data analysis & presentation.
- Workforce Plan Development & Governance – Enable GB/GI & geographic teams to build, submit & analyze workforce plans; apply workforce plans to provide high‑quality feedback & drive continuous improvement; ensure strong governance, data integrity & transparency in planning cycles.
- Stakeholder Engagement – Partner with GB/GI, Geography, Finance & People teams to align workforce plans with business strategy & financial objectives; provide expert guidance & constructive challenge to improve decision‑making; collaborate across PGC, Technology & Operations for service delivery; assist in stakeholder updates & presentations under Service Lead guidance.
- Agile Delivery & Change Enablement – Employ agile operating model principles, managing work through features, epics & stories; work with delivery teams to plan & deliver scoped packages that meet business needs; support adoption & change via communication, training & stakeholder engagement.
- Continuous Improvement – Continuously improve planning processes through collaboration with GB/GI & Geographic teams; establish feedback mechanisms for enhancement & innovation; support change initiatives by documenting processes & tracking actions; participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure deployments meet requirements.
- Essential Knowledge & Experience – Requires experience supporting processes or operational delivery in a PGC, people‑ or data‑focused environment; experience creating or maintaining documentation & guidance; working knowledge of data analysis using MS Excel (formulas & pivot tables).
- Leadership & Team Management – Embody HSBC values in daily work; collaborate with WFP team to develop best practices; coach GB/GI & Geography planning leads on WFP best practice.
To be successful you will:
- Experience in workforce planning or related disciplines ideally within a large Financial Services organization.
- Understanding of workforce planning methodologies, financial planning, and cost management.
- Clear communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to explain information in a simple, user-friendly way; attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and quality.
- Organization and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and build new skills in a complex environment; Collaborative mindset and a positive, supportive approach to working with others.
- Experience with workforce planning technologies (e.g. Anaplan) and analytics-driven decision-making preferred.
- Experience working in agile delivery environments, with practical knowledge of features, epics, stories, and Scrum delivery models.
- Strong influencing, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to provide constructive challenge.
