We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Operations Manager.
In this role, you will:
- Proactively develop understanding of the business and product area thus creating a knowledge base. Manage requests towards completion of task in a timely manner and that any project/ ad hoc / remedial work is completed within agreed timeframes. Ensure the off-shore and on-shore teams operate and engage as a single “virtual” team.
- Responsible for conceptualizing and creating robust MIS for business head and business partners to facility effective performance monitoring and review. Responsible for the development of through team through coaching/counseling and identifying appropriate training & development requirements and to lead and motivate staff with widely differing aspirations working in productivity-based environment where deadlines are critical
- Ensure that deadlines set for Markets Middle Office are met. Ensure completeness & accuracy of submitted data. Assist in the development of strategic tools. Perform a thorough review of the final data expected to be submitted by Markets Middle Office to downstream users (e.g. Collateral Management Team).
- Has a detailed understanding of the activity life cycle/products and/or processes, inherent risks specific to their area and the application of control principles (e.g. segregation of duties). Undertakes all mandatory risk and regulatory training relevant to their role
- Completeness, Productivity & Quality Assurance, Timeliness, Proactive, Change Management, Management information & Reporting. This position is expected to coordinate with various HSBC functions, namely: Front Office Risk Analytics, Markets Middle Office, Product Control, Traded Risk Management, Collateral Management & Compliance.
- Ability to maintain control, direction and motivation of staff in an ever-changing environment. Ensuring management information and ad hoc reports are produced in a timely manner.
- Given the criticality of the process, transactional volumes and value of the business overall, this role requires the job holder to execute Document swiftly and accurately, adhering to the process and guidelines to ensure nil impact to the business. Any exceptions, failures, inaccuracies or delays could potentially result in any of the following impacts.
- Financial Loss, Regulatory Impact, Reputational Damage, Audit Findings, Increased Operational Risk, Risk Management & Mitigation, Capacity Planning, Stakeholder Management, Change & Transformation, Up to Date Market Knowledge.
To be successful, you will:
- Graduate/Post-graduate in finance and accounting (preferred). Having 6-8 years of operations experience.
- Evidence of very good prioritizing, planning and organizing skills. Ability to comprehend and minimize operational risks including wide understanding of audit controls and compliance requirements. Ability to manage and develop a team staff across a diverse range of processes within an operational environment.
- Ability to maintain control, direction and motivation of staff in an ever-changing environment. Understand, follow and demonstrate compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which you are involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy, including the Group Compliance Policy.
- Be aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with the role and act in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations. To maintain HSBC internal control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
- Need to be aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with their role, and to ensure that all actions during their employment with HSBC take account of the likelihood of operational risk occurring. Ensuring management information and ad hoc reports are produced in a timely manner.
- Actively participate & contribute to the team in improving processes, productivity & quality of service maximizing efficiency. Excellent teamwork and leadership skills. Analytical skills, with ability to recognize areas for development.
- A positive self-starter. Evidence of strategy design implementation with sound understanding of internal / external business environment. Evidence of having taken difficult decisions in a complex operational environment including HR related issues.
- Evidence in quality improvement, reducing cost and increase in productivity.
