We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Market Data, Product.

In this role, you will: 

  • Act as the key business contact point for market data cost. Work closely with HSBC’s Market Data Services function, ensuring the business needs are met, with best fees and terms for Securities Services.
  • Produce effective and transparent market data usage and cost management information that facilitates strategic decision making and that demonstrates continued optimization and value for money.
  • Continuous review of market data consumption and internal cost policy and allocations to ensure these remain fit-for-purpose; Ensure key business stakeholders are aware of upcoming contract renewals, usage reviews, audits, whilst allowing sufficient lead time for review and any necessary contract changes.
  • Lead cost strategy and roadmap with on-going review of cost saving opportunities; Identify, recommend and implement cost optimisation and efficiencies. Maintain a strong cost discipline by working with key stakeholders to deliver market data cost reduction targets.
  • Prepare market data cost business cases for strategic initiatives, transformation, new products, client change and onboarding, etc; Oversee market data vendor product upgrades and migrations.
  • Develop strong working relationships with third party market data providers. Co-ordinate due diligence reviews with key data providers, document meeting minutes and track actions.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the market data used across Securities Services to critically assess requirements and support as an SME; Communicate and provide guidance on third party market data contractual terms and obligations.

To be successful you will:

  • Comprehensive understanding of market data management covering data supplier contracts, commercial policies, and cost management across global data vendor carriers, exchanges, index providers, security identifier providers and local market agencies.
  • Experience of market data provider management including negotiation, cost, provider selection, onboarding, displacement and offboarding.
  • Strategic mindset, self-motivated, driven and delivery focused; Ability to define problem statements, analyse causes, assess options, and find effective solutions.
  • Strong cost dicipline and experience in building and managing business cases and associated risk.
  • Energetic, self-motivated, and delivery focused with exemplary attention to detail; Highly adaptable and organised, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and independently.
  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration and influencing skills across geographies with ability to relate to people at all levels; Excellent presentation, negotiation and communication skills, verbally and in writing; Strong IT skills (Excel, Powerpoint, Word, Teams).
  • Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the securities and derivatives markets and market data content including security reference data, pricing, corporate actions, and index / benchmark data.
  • Understanding of HSBC Group and MSS strategy and internal processes for third party on-boarding, risk assessment and invoicing.
  • Detailed understanding of Securities Services products and services, platforms, and market data usage; Understanding of digital asset and ESG data content and providers.
