We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Manager Operations – Funds Financial Reporting.
In this role, you will:
- Life Fund Accounting Team is required to provide the provision of monthly reports and data extracts to Insurance clients. The core deliverables include ledger feeds, valuation extracts and supplementary analysis to enable the client to complete statutory accounts and regulatory disclosures. Also required to oversee the entire monthly reporting process. To manage the Life Fund Accounting team in Bangalore and ensure accurate, complete and timely delivery of the outputs. The role can be an individual contributor role or people manager.
- Carry out pre-month end control checks to ensure any changes activity around transactions / Accounts / Funds are updated. Review between General Ledger & reports to ensure there are no difference between values and account balances. Review Supplementary Reporting values and balances to the General Ledger report to ensure consistency across the reports. Adjustments are recorded and provided to clients as per their Service Level Agreement and agreed parameters through either Overs/Unders Reporting or provision of journal entries.
- Review all investment accounting reports required by the client to support the general ledger feed. Advise Life Fund Accounting Manager of any issues that require to be raised with the client. Managing the process to deliver the outputs as per agreed Service Level Agreement / Performance Level Agreements. Oversee the entire monthly reporting process. Supporting the audit / review process. Maintain positive engagement within the team. Maintain track of the group mailbox, to ensure timely action on queries and deliverables
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the business and keep abreast of development in the market. Extend support to propose improvements to enhance service delivery. Extend support to the Management with implementing new systems and process at the best possible manner. Review and authorize all investment accounting reports produced. Understand and continuously improve the process to enable smoother and better operations. Proactively provide the Management with necessary Management Information as and when requested.
- Ongoing resource management to effectively deliver the output in an efficient manner. Manage and maintain resources to support good culture and ensure minimum impact of attrition. Meticulously monitor production calendar to meet Business needs. All Key Performance Indicators, accuracy targets and Service Level Agreements are met. Keeping the End User Computing / Standard Operating Procedure updated all the time as per changing Business requirement
- Actively connect with Internal and External Stakeholders. Build good relationship with Clients. Proactively identify and improve on service delivery and processes. Maintain clear communication with the Client to avoid ambiguities. Keep the client informed on critical matters on a timely manner. Adherence to the Group’s agreed processes / procedures – achieving a satisfactory Audit report. Regularly review operational effectiveness and regularly review procedures
- Maintain HSBC internal control standards overseeing the timely implementation of audit points. Updating all daily Management Information System / trackers as required by the process. Ensure Mandatory trainings are completed for self and the team within the due dates. Ensure timely follow up on the open & outstanding issues that hinder the valuation. Actively participate in projects for improvement in delivery quality and/or timeliness.
- Proactively identify and reduce manual processes for enhanced operational control while supporting and implementing technology up gradation. Extend support to audit process and recommendations on a timely manner. Undertake the activities accurately as per the Standard Operating Procedure established and suggest for control & improvement as and when necessary.
To be successful, you will:
- Commerce graduate or postgraduate with minimum 5+ years of experience in Financial and Regulatory reporting.
- Professional qualification in the fields of Accounting like CA (Chartered Accountant), ICWA (Institute of Cost and Works Accountants), CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) and CS (Company Secretary) with relevant working experience.
- Minimum of 5 years in the Life Fund Accounting / Fund Industry.
- Strong Accounting Concepts with a clear understanding of financial statements. Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word skills.
- Sound knowledge of various types of assets, Funds Administration and accounting services and understanding of valuations cycle, financial instruments, corporate actions and accounting concepts.
- Understanding of Cash reconciliation, Income and Expense would be necessary. Knowledge of Bloomberg, Reuters and relevant data feeds would be added advantage.
- Should have an eye for detail and a strong analytical mind. Efficient Time Management and ability to multi-task work and prioritize meeting defined deadlines.
- Good Communication skills to interact clearly with overseas customers and stakeholders.
