Job Title: Data Retention Lead
Purpose of the role
- Data and analytics is an important enabler for the UK Business’ strategy and in achieving its’ outcomes. The Data Retention Lead is within the UK Chief Data and Analytics Office (CDAO) function. The UK CDAO function is responsible for data risk and control management, delivering the data platform strategy, delivering data and analytics products and AI for the UK Business.The Data Retention Lead is responsible for ensuring that the full lifecycle of records from creation, storage and timely disposition is in line with legal and regulatory retention schedules across the UK Bank.
In this role, you will:
- Engage with key stakeholders to ensure data storage and retention requirements are adhered to across physical, structured, and unstructured records, including c.300 Departmental Records Coordinators
- Review whether required legal and regulatory holds have been applied
- Build and maintain relationships with various stakeholders as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor on data storage, record retention and disposition requirements and obligations
- Monitor key data storage control indicators, reporting progress and risks for senior management consumption
- Seek changes to improve measurement of the data storage control including changes to enterprise data quality tools, key control measurement indicators or the data governance framework
- Collaborate with IT/data engineers to enhance the use of automation in records management
- Support preparation of materials for the UK data retention governance forumProvide training sessions on data retention to promote the importance of high quality information lifecycle management and uplift data literacy of the organization
- Collaborate within the data management team, contributing to a high-performing data function
To be successful you will:
- Experience across records management, retention schedules and record inventories, legal holds application, eDiscovery, archiving and storage techniques, data disposition, policy and control frameworks
- Knowledge of enterprise data records management tools and evolving data retention best practices
- Ability to translate technical data issues into business impact to communicate with business stakeholders
- Strong cross-functional collaboration, stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills
- Well versed with Excel
- Advantageous to have Confluence and Jira knowledge
- Experience in a large Global organisation preferably in a Transformation or IT department or shared service organization
- Experience of working on a regional scale (i.e. across time zone & geography and with remote teams)
