Purpose of the role
- Data and analytics is an important enabler for the UK Business’ strategy and in achieving its’ outcomes. The Data Management Analyst is within the UK Data and Analytics function. The UK Data and Analytics function is responsible for data risk and control management, delivering the data platform strategy, delivering data and analytics products and AI for the UK Business.
- The Data Management Analyst is responsible for supporting the objectives of ensuring that HSBC data management standards are met through the accuracy, consistency and integrity of key data across the UK Business
In this role, you will:
- Analysis of datasets to support the business identification of key data attributes. Review output from automated data cataloguing tools to verify entries
- Collate required information to apply consistent metadata tags.. Update centralized data dictionary with the information on key data attributes in scope of the Data Usage control
- Analyze datasets to identify errors, duplicates and inconsistencies. Support identification and agreement of right and trusted sources of data
- Document the data flows in a process, product or within and across applications. Create data quality and validation rules across all key UK Business data that address data risk through the data quality dimensions: accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness, uniqueness and validity
- Conduct testing of data quality issue fixes to ensure that the root cause is remediated. Collaborate within the data management team, contributing to a high-performing data quality function
To be successful you will:
- Experience of data analysis across large datasets. Understanding of how data flows across banking operations, from front office to operations
- Experience of data tagging and cataloguing. Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
- Experience in working with business stakeholders and remediation teams, including data and IT architects and engineers, to address and resolve data issues. Proficiency with enterprise data management and governance tools. Well versed with Excel. Familiarity with Python or BI tools, Confluence and Jira is an added advantage
- Experience of working on a regional scale (i.e. across time zone & geography and with remote teams)
