In this role, you will:

  • Enable and facilitate the Data Quality and Integrity Controls implementation, monitoring, and measurement
  • Responsible for ensuring that data is defined and validated periodically, including ensuring data risk is evaluated and mitigated in accordance with HSBC’s data risk policy.
  • Responsible for ensuring data controls are monitored and updated across business processes and applications in accordance Group’s data procedures
  • Drive remediation programs (e.g., as part regulatory or internal findings). Collaborate with UK Risk Steward and CCO to drive mitigation of data risk and closure of data control issues for UK Business.
  • Facilitate the communication of the status, value, and importance of data management to team leads and other DAO members, as well as external stakeholders.
  • Interact and be a representative throughout the region at various levels of management on behalf of the Data Controls lead. Work with IT to implement data controls
  • Cultivate a positive and collaborative working environment across UK CDAO and the data controls team.Participate in an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand. Complete other responsibilities, as assigned.

 

To be successful you will:

  • The role holder will be required to interact with many internal and external parties at various levels and therefore needs an outstanding level of professionalism and gravitas, coupled with strong analytical and communication skills
  • Ownership - the role requires the navigation of the structure and roles across the new UK. Flexibility and adaptability - constantly changing priorities and tasks that are potentially highly restricted in nature, unpredictable and wide-ranging, complex and time-sensitive requires the simultaneous handling of a broad range of issues.
  • Sensitivity and trust - engendering a true sense of urgency, pace, community, and collaboration across indirectly managed areas across the CDAO community. A good understanding of data – how it is stored and transferred between applications
  • A high level of curiosity, coupled with strong analytical skills to support the evaluation of control effectiveness and drive improvements. Knowledge of the banking industry would be desirable 
  • Perform a proactive, collaborative role across the UK.HSBC is going through an unprecedented period of change in its move to a sustainable globally led and connected organization. There is increasing external scrutiny and pressure on the Financial Services industry from governments, regulators, media, investors, and brokers. The role holder needs to understand the impact of all these changes on the UK CDAO and support the lead accordingly.
  • Thinking and acting independently, often within tight timeframes, formulating sound advice or actions which have clear direction and are commercially and operationally acceptable.
