We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Credit Risk Generalist – Credit Analysis Unit.

In this role, you will:

  • Credit & Capital Management (CCM) under CIB are in the process of implementing a new, modern, and consistent E2E operating model.  A key component of this operating model is the introduction of a first line credit management office (the Business Credit Office.)
  • The BCO function will complete tasks including structuring, credit analysis and rating recommendation, client credit monitoring tasks, credit terms and docs negotiation with WCMR and clients acting as a single handoff from a RM to the BCO for all CCM tasks, creating a single control point.
  • The BCO Manager provides credit management support to Relationship Managers (RMs) / Coverage and facilitates client review and renewal activities, and is responsible for carrying out customer outreach, research, financial and credit analysis on behalf of the RMs, ensuring exemplary risk management acumen and control standards are embedded within the end-to-end CCM process. In discharging their duties the role holder must ensure a common, reliable, and predictable underwriting and lending process, that protects the business from exposure, whilst responding to clients borrowing needs.  They are also responsible for co-ordination and completion of credit applications or renewals and risk escalation management.  The role holder will report to the BCO Team Lead and will work closely with the Coverage and Transaction Support teams to ensure seamless customer experience and consistency of service for all customers.
  • The BCO manager will need to be an effective collaborator and skilled stakeholder manager, successfully navigating complex landscape to deliver exceptional outcomes for our customers and stakeholders.
  • The team will also provide a pivotal support system for our aiding in ESG activities throughout the Credit & Capital Management cycle. Additionally, the SAU contributes significantly to the Group's ESG reporting. The unit serves as a crucial instrument enabling the Bank to achieve its net-zero objectives, which include assisting our clients on their transition journeys, enhancing long-term climate risk/portfolio management, and providing timely financing support for our clients
  • Responsible for the delivery of BCO tasks in line with agreed OKRs, SLAs and KPIs. Own the end-to-end Credit & Capital Management servicing journey, ensuring a seamless and efficient process for customers and internal stakeholders
  • Work with the BCO Team Lead to ensure adequate credit risk management controls are built into the operational process and robust MI is in place to track and measure risk against agreed thresholds
  • Closely work with the senior management team and Regional Sustainability Champions to drive various activities as part of the Group's transition to Net Zero along with implementing various strategic initiatives across BCO teams.
  • Analysis and investigation of Wholesale portfolio exposure for the Thermal Coal Phase Out Policy (TCPOP) applicability (both lending & capital market transactions) and exposure weighting calculations for eligible counterparties, along with assurance support for ARA reporting.
  • Analysis and investigation of Wholesale counterparties for policy screening / eligibility across multiple sectors as part of the client onboarding & renewal process. Risk assessment of the carbon footprint of the Wholesale lending portfolio, identifying physical and transitional risks.

To be successful you will:

  • Post Graduation in Management, Finance, Economics, or equivalent such as a Chartered Accountant would be preferred. Candidates with CFA, FRM and other risk management qualifications will be an added advantage.
  • Any further certification from NSE (NCFM Modules) on Mutual Funds, Derivatives, Stock Markets, etc. Good understanding of ESG and Climate Risk - Understanding ESG policies and their implementation using annual reports, CSR/Sustainability reports and other company filings
  • 6+ years relevant corporate lending experience with strong analytical skills and sound credit domain knowledge
  • Strong understanding of various financing instruments and banking products for Wholesale Banking. Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to navigate complex situations and drive alignment among senior leaders
  • Clear understanding of the Group credit risk principles, policies and statutory compliances. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, Commercial Mindset, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Exceptionally strong problem-solving and communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain relationships. Ability to build connections and work collaboratively across boundaries.
  • Highly customer oriented and delivering top quality customer service. Manage all elements of Operational Risk which includes aspects related to GCC Compliance, Data Protection, Health and Safety and Audit requirements.
  • Foster a culture of compliance amongst the team members as regards Group Compliance Policy. Understand and comply with all relevant policies and procedures issued by the Group and contained within the Group Standards Manual and relevant Functional Instruction Manuals and Process Guidelines.
  • Maintain high standards of professional conduct and be a role model for the team. Maintaining HSBC internal control standards and implementing the Group Compliance Policy, wherever applicable
  • Need to be aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with their role, and to ensure that all actions during their employment with HSBC take account of the likelihood of operational risk occurring. Adhering strictly to compliance and operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC and regulatory standards, policies, and practices
