Job Title: Associate Director, Decision Systems - Wealth
- The role operates within Fraud & Credit Services (FCS), first line of defense control function in IWPB (Intl Wealth & Private Banking), with the core purpose of supporting the end-to-end credit journey and creating sustainable outcomes for the Customers and the Bank.
- Fraud & Credit Decision Systems under IWPB Fraud & Credit Services (FCS) is responsible for the delivery and support of the Credit, Collection and Fraud risk management platforms, tools and data across HSBC. The team also serves as a Decision Engine CoE (Centre of Excellence) for multiple Account Originations/Management, Collections and Fraud Risk systems including the Credit Bureau Management. We facilitate the deployment of account originations and management strategies through the FIM approved decision eco-system. The team would need to interface heavily between the Information Technology team and the business end users (including Risk & Product functions).
- The role holder is expected to own a portfolio of work and manage the respective stakeholder relationship. In this role the individual will own the overall vision and roadmap of the Decision System team(s), proactively find new opportunities, bring together resources, and drive delivery. The role holder is expected to be familiar with the capabilities within Decision ecosystem.
- Prior experience of managing deliveries using decision system tools like SAS ID, Powercurve, TRIAD will be useful.
- The role holder should also understand data lineage, transformation rules and data quality checks for credit risk, collection / recoveries, and fraud. The role holder has end to end own the responsibility for all aspects of data analysis and build knowledge on credit risk and collections and fraud business areas.
- In some cases, the role deals extensively with data delivery to support the decision strategies and models. In these scenarios the role holder is required to have relevant experience on data engineering, feature engineering, AIML Ops using industry standard tools.
- Responsibilities will progressively increase as role holder matures in the role or the incoming candidate has higher relative experience at the time of hiring
Governance and Committee Memberships
The role owner would be required to represent Decision Systems in all relevant risk and governance committee meetings
In this role, you will:
- Support the definition and design of Decision Systems Technology Strategy i.e. build Cloud based Cognitive decision infrastructure for implementation of Advance Analytics with performance at scale
- Deliver the FCS Decision Optimization program objectives related to development and implementation of AIML models, access to new external data and improvement of Credit Straight through processing, Turnaround time etc.
- Join up with IWPB teams to deliver a consistent Cloud based Decisioning Infrastructure across Underwriting, Originations Fraud and Account Management.
- Direct and manage the roll out of Future State decision system across any HSBC markets
- Implement best practices and standardize the change management process across various regions
- Create global standard service levels & deliver MI to support operational monitoring of Future Decision Systems service
- Plan, scope and deliver units of CRs and projects to meet the desired strategic direction while adhering to cost, resourcing and time scale milestones
- Ensure business benefits are achieved by establishing successful business model
- Work closely with colleagues from Business, IT and other stakeholders to ensure the roll out of strategic initiatives in HSBC markets
- Adapt/ Implement Agile delivery model
- Drive continuous improvement and creative problem solving
- Support the recruitment and retention of junior colleagues and provide coaching and guidance.
- Experience of presenting recommendations to Senior Management forum

To be successful you will:
- Must have lead projects in Fraud & Credit Lending Landscape.
- Exposure to Banking Analytics or equivalent experience in Business, Finance or related field. Knowledge of decision systems.
- Knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment.
- Experience on Vendor Decisioning or Analytics product(s) is preferred. E.g. Experian PowerCurve, SMg3, SAS Intelligent Decisioning, SAS Viya, Provenir etc.
- Experience on Cloud, Digital Technology and Cognitive/AI platforms will be an added advantage.
- Experience on DevOps Methodologies
- Exposure to big data and cloud computing is desirable.
- Strong background working with large-scale data, data management, data quality, visualization and dashboard design and regulatory and compliance matters.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, presentation and interpersonal skills
- Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability to change and changing work priorities and ability to drive results
- Experience in working in collaborative environment across FLoD and SLoD is strongly desirable.
- Strong programming knowledge of SAS, SQL R/Python, GCP.
- For candidates focussing on data delivery aspects of the role should possess relevant experience on standard industry tools like DataFlow, Airflow, DAG, Pyspark, DBT, BigQuery, BigData
Others:
- Post Graduate degree/ BTech/ BE or equivalent
- Minimum 12+ years of successful track record of leading technology (functional) projects with aggressive timelines across the organization
- Must be a self-starter and will be required to work under minimal supervision, but with firm deadlines.
- Mentorship experience will be an added advantage
- Must have experience in leading and delivering projects from planning to implementation phase.
