We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Assistant Vice President - Risk - Centre of Excellence

In this role, you will:

  • The purpose of this role is to contribute to the Wholesale Business Risk Governance agenda through active engagement in the governance processes for Wholesale Business risk, including Global Banking/Markets product governance.
  • Lead and provide SME support on Business Risk related matters of risk identification, mitigation, governance, insights and control activities for the above verticals along with engaging a diverse set of stake holders in wider Wholesale Business Risk, 1LOD, 2LOD, DBS, CMB, GB and other business/functional lines if necessary.
  • Provide Governance & Oversight to ensure that the established Policy and Procedures are adhered in the Global Banking, Global Markets and Wholesale Business Product Lifecycle Process which includes New Product Launch, Enhancements to existing products, Product Demise, Post Implementation Reviews, Periodic Reviews.
  • Actively support the Wholesale Business Risk Senior Management in managing Conduct Risk and ensuring that all governance committees across the Wholesale Business Risk team meet the requirements of the risk governance framework as well as ensuring the appropriate messaging, key risks are escalated through the appropriate business forums. 
  • Assume ownership of Customer Feedback Tool (Complaints / Suggestions / Compliments) including creating the Business Requirements Document, Cost estimation for IT Development, engage in the daily project / IT calls, co-ordinate and perform UAT, SIT and Post-Implementation System checks, provide User Support, raise JIRA tickets to fix system bugs.
  • Ensure that the Policy and Procedures established for Product Governance is appropriate to manage the risks associated.  Assume ownership of the Product Management Governance System(s) by developing business requirements for new features, amending existing features and fixing any system bugs by co-ordinating with the Information Technology team.
  • Act as an SME for all activities encompassed under the Wholesale Product Governance Framework, including the Product Management and Governance System(s) and provide guidance / input into related activities (e.g. Global Wholesale Product Governance Working Group).
  • Contribute to the implementation and monitoring of the application of Product Governance policies, governance frameworks, procedures, practices, and standards to ensure quality, effective risk management, and compliance with minimum global requirements.
  • Play an active role by providing relevant and timely inputs to all governance forums / committees across the Wholesale Business Risk team and by ensuring key risks are escalated through the appropriate business forums. Advance aid and collate inputs to agenda of governance across WBR.
  • Provide high-level Support in the preparation of business papers and training materials to contribute to the execution and embedding of all Governance initiatives. Conduct in-depth Review, recognise Challenge, and validate inputs to governance forums. 

 

To be successful you will:

  • A working knowledge of Commercial Banking & Market Securities Services Businesses combined with a working knowledge of products used by Commercial Banking Clients.
  • Strong understanding of Wholesale Banking Business risks and potential mitigating actions, industry / best practices and related risk and control frameworks.
  • Strong analytical skills. Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, complemented by interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively and confidently at all levels;
  • Being a quick learner and the ability to be a Subject Matter Expert by undertaking a deep dive into multiple Business Risk areas.
  • Flexibility and adaptability – competing priorities that are potentially highly restricted in nature, unpredictable and wide ranging, complex and time sensitive requires the simultaneous handling of a broad range of issues and resourcing.
  • Matrix organization – delivering against deadlines working across multi-jurisdictions and with multiple stakeholders. Proven ability to work in matrix management structure.
  • Stakeholder considerations – the role holder produces the highest quality, most s across Product Lines / Lines of Businesses within Wholesale remit (CMB, GB, GLCM, GTRF) at a global and regional level, and several other Global Businesses and Global Functions including but not limited to DBS, MSS and WPB.
  • Succinct output that is always suitable for senior executive management and external parties, regardless of pressures. Proactive identification of issues and initiation of structured discussions with the key stakeholders across HSBC.
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision and collaborate effectively as part of a team. Well-developed written and verbal communication. Good level of business acumen and commercial awareness, including economic, cultural, procedural & regulatory issues.
