We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Assistant Vice President – Accounting Control.
In this role, you will:
- Data and Regulation Reporting is a function in Market & Securities Services Operations. It is globally aligned, cross asset’s operational structure, positioned equidistant from Front office, Operations, Surveillance, Finance and Risk. Accounting control is a division of DaRR responsible for data integrity and ensures traded products (Derivative and Non-Derivative) are correctly accounted and disclosed in financial statements.
- The role of Asset Class Lead of Accounting Control sits within Trade Conduct Control function of Markets and Security Operations, and specifically in DaRR stream. The role is a people leader role managing service delivery for Accounting Control across various regions for an Asset class.
- Reconcile and Substantiate operations owned Balance Sheet accounts monthly. Review exceptions and raise to the senior management as per defined thresholds. Follow up with Operations on the open queries and exceptions as per defined escalation protocol
- Review and certify annually the Account Balance Control Documents (ABCD) partnering with operations. Lead and manage a team responsible for offshore activities of Accounting Control. Deliver timely and accurate daily and periodic reporting with high degree of governance and auditable controls. Demonstrate an expert understanding of Markets business and processes
- Grow OP footprint by showcasing high quality service delivery and centralization benefits, especially productivity improvements. Understand and actively engage with stakeholder needs and manage expectations. Influence and escalate customer issues in an effective way to ensure timely resolution. Timely and appropriate response to queries and requests
- Lead, motivate and manage a team of finance professionals taking into account attritions, band progression, contingencies and expectations plus act as an individual contributor as & when required.
- Manage sourcing and hiring quality people into the team both internally and externally. Establish and meet challenging PLAs. Adherence to Group policies, audit, controls, and compliance requirements including but not limited to declaration of secrecy, data protection act, health, safety and security, information security, clear desk policy. Continually assess the operational risks inherent in the processes, taking account of changing operating procedures, staff movements, legal and regulatory requirements, management restructures, and the impact of new technology.
- Effectively manage change, plan staff contingencies and achieve cross-training. Ensuring BCP (business continuity plan) is documented, agreed and tested as per agreed timelines. Ensure all SOPs (standard operating procedures) are in place and updated appropriately. Ensure Global Resourcing operating framework considering key operational risk (including people & processes) and ways to mitigate
To be successful, you will:
- Degree / MBA Finance or similar with at least 5+ years of experience in Controls preferably in a Product Control, Reconciliation, Accounting or Reporting environment.
- Experience managing high end Product Control, Surveillance or Reporting & Analysis or finance activities, with independent accountability for achieving and driving results.
- Knowledge of other platforms such as PC Portal, TLM, and Saracen would be advantageous.
- Orientation towards Product Ownership. Strong practical understanding of Traded markets products, such as Foreign Exchange, Fixed Income, Derivatives - Options, Interest rate swaps, Equity Derivatives, Credit Derivatives etc. and their valuations
- Demonstrated team leadership qualities and proven track record of ability to manage diverse/multi-culture work environments with strong organization, time management and prioritization demand.
- Excellent communication skills, presentation skills and interpersonal skills, combined with strong courageous integrity to challenge, ask the right questions, be persistent, give and receive feedback positively, collaborate effectively within own team, outside team and with front office.
- IT user expertise in working on systems and applications, with proficiency in MS Excel/Access/Word/PPT
- Act with high levels of integrity, conduct and performance against ethical standards
