We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Assistant Manager - Accounting Control.
In this role, you will:
- Accounting Control is the division of DaRR MSS Ops. Accounting Control ensures traded products are correctly accounted and disclosed and, with prudent valuations, reported to our regulators
- The role is an individual contributor (IC) role in the Accounting Control team, servicing the hub trading sites of HSBC located in London, Paris, Hong Kong and New York.
- The role is focused on reconciliation of front office vs back-office vs ledger balances across multiple asset classes. It involves close engagement with stakeholders in the sites and near-shore teams (Krakow and Manila), IT, Operations, Change Management and the front office.
- To act as an individual contributor delivering daily business controls (Reconciliation and Manual Journals) pertaining to the Global Markets business.
- Ensure service delivery of Accounting Control - MMO processes as per the standards set out in agreed SLAs within the HSBC Global Resourcing operating framework
- Assist with production of reconciliations, investigation & root cause analysis of breaks including accounting adjustments to be posted to the books & records.
- Produce accurate and timely management information in conjunction with the In-country/near shore teams. Ensuring the queries pertaining to deliverables are promptly responded with active business engagement
- Helping the manager in day-to-day and periodic reporting requirements and provide leave and off-days cover for other team members.
To be successful, you will:
- Qualified Chartered Accountant/CFA pursing/MBA Tier I and if from Tier II institute with around 1 year of Qualified Chartered Accountant/CFA pursing/MBA Tier I and if from Tier II institute with around 1 year of experience in Product Control, Middle Office, Front Office Operations environment, and organization of similar scale with US GAAP, IFRS, IAS reporting framework.
- Knowledge of various products like Equities, Foreign Exchange, fixed income, Derivatives - Options, Interest rate swaps, Equity Derivatives, Credit Derivatives etc.
- Proven ability to manage migrations of finance processes and exposure to diverse/multi-culture work environments with strong organization, time management and prioritization skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills are mandatory, as are good tact and diplomacy, since the role requires relationship management with other individuals and teams within the HSBC Group.
- Interpersonal skills, persistence, ability to work effectively with senior & junior staff, ability to challenge inputs from senior colleagues in a constructive manner, ability to give feedback positively, co-ordinate work across multiple teams.
- Orientation towards Quality (Six Sigma/Lean methodology) and technical bent of mind.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite; Exposure to Project Management Software.
- Global Exposure and experience in multi-tasking.
