We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Analyst
Principal responsibilities
To be an integral team member of the Climate and ESG team within Global Research:
• Maintain an exhaustive database on Climate change and ESG for a range of topics and sectors identified for the purpose
• Identify and analyse Climate and ESG themes that can have material impact on the prices of securities and investment decisions
• Should be able to create VBA macros in MS Excel to automate files and other processes
• Analyse the ESG/sustainability performance of companies / sectors
• Provide insightful analysis on climate & ESG issues across sectors and regions
• Undertake detailed policy and country specific research on Climate and ESG themes
• Analyse the impact of Climate & ESG-related regulations on various industries/ sectors
• Benchmark ESG themes within/across different sectors and identify emerging trends
• Analyse the impact of regulations on various industries/sectors and asset classes
• Maintain a long-term historical record of corporate actions/ events, litigations, penal actions by the government, etc. for each company
• Write report - Industry thematic, corporate/ government policy reviews, country/sector specific reports
Global risk objective
- Understand and adhere to both the letter and the spirit of all laws, regulations and regulatory guidance that apply to the role, promptly reporting any breaches in accordance with local procedures
- Maintain sufficient and effective processes and controls identifying and mitigating risks and ensure timely escalation and resolution of all control issues and reputation risks
Compliance
- DIM/FIM: Adherence to Global Research’s policies and procedures as laid out in the Desk Instruction Manual (DIM), Functional Instruction Manual (FIM) and any other relevant group policies and procedures
- Conduct Risk: Adherence to: (1) the Conduct Risk agenda, ensuring full compliance with the High-Performance Culture and Values programme; (2) Group directives regarding Global Standards; (3) the Three Lines of Defence
- Mandatory Training: Ensure 100% completion of your mandatory training on time
Qualifications
Being proactive with a positive attitude and high energy are key personal/professional attributes. This role also requires constant communication and collaboration with teammates. The skills below are essential for a smooth functioning -
- 1-5 years of experience preferably in Environmental, Social and Governance research or sustainability. Good knowledge on financial market in general.
- Proficient with MS office, VBA Macros
- Knowledge of financial databases such as Bloomberg and/or Reuters Workspace, Factset
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Hands-on experience in dealing and managing large data sets and analytical reasoning
- Hands on intermediate to advanced excel skills
- Ability to write VBA codes to run macros in MS Excel
- Good to have knowledge of Python
- Ability to join dots across various thematics
- Strong attention to detail and visual data representation
- Working within a tight deadlines framework
- Ability to follow technical instructions
- A strong understanding of sustainability concepts
