We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Analyst - Front to Back Data Control.

 

In this role, you will:

  • The purpose of the role is to provide an Analyst Function for the Front to Back Data control team. The role provides 360degree understanding of Trade and Risk data on booking, valuation and consumption in bank.
  • The team is responsible for ensuring the production of complete, accurate and timely, risk and valuation data. The role will support not only managing the operation and controls but also support the articulation and delivery of the new target operating model as required under the Bank's various Future State programs.
  • Ensuring the end-to-end integrity of Risk and Valuation Data by executing enhanced controls for the data to be readily consumed by all consumers including Traded risk, Finance, Collateral etc.
  • Implementing Future State architectural system (VAULT) for centralized control in the bank in accordance with Basel Committee on Banking Supervision 239 principles. Publishing and analysing daily control reports for each asset class (Equities, Foreign Exchange & Fixed Income) for materiality of risk impact. Using Agile methodology, raising Jiras to IT, performing user acceptance tests for all controls implemented.
  • Understanding financial instruments and their key risk and valuation measures such as Present Value of a Basis Point, Credit Spread Sensitivity (CS01), Value at Risk, Mark-to-Market, Present Value etc. Responsible for executing controls and performing L1 investigation for exceptions as detailed below:
  • Risk Data quality checks and controls on sources/ inputs - Primary Trading Systems, Pricing engine and Vault Data. Coordinating with Front office IT and Quants team to achieve strategic fix on pricing exceptions. Reference Data Quality Controls on static data for external and internal golden source for products, instruments, books etc
  • Liaises with feed providers to ensure the timeliness, accuracy and completeness of inputs for reporting. This includes prompt escalation of delays and incomplete data for proper workaround and/or resolution. Ensure that processes adhere to appropriate quality standards, with reference to internal and external compliance rules, and are comprehensively documented.
  • Maintain HSBC internal control standards and address audit points and/or any issues raised by regulators in a timely manner. Foster a compliance culture within the team, managing compliance risk and ensuring that the necessary training is completed. Optimize relations with regulators.

 

To be successful, you will:

  • A degree / qualification in finance, accountancy, business management, quantitative course or previous experience in risk management or product control.
  • Good understanding of financial products, risk management principles, market risk measures (i.e. Present Value of a Basis Point, Value at Risk) and systems.
  • High level of competency in the production of information, and the ability to process, analyze and interpret market risk reports.
  • High proficiency in Excel (Visual Basic skill would be an advantage), Word and Powerpoint. Average proficiency in MS Access.
  • Excellent communication & presentation skills.
