Job Title: AVP - MSS OPS NFR RISK ASSESSMENT
Purpose of the role
- The Risk Assessment (RA) function is a subset of the MSS NFR team and is required to manage the effective performance of the Risk Assurance reviews for MSS that forms part of the overall Operational Risk mandate. The AVP for RA will be required to ensure that these are implemented for locations for which they will have accountability for.
In this role, you will:
The RA Agenda will include, but is not limited to:
- Administer a robust Global Risk Assessment plan (e.g. mandatory reviews, thematic reviews and other risk assessment activities)
- Ensure that NFR policies are fully embedded across MSS Operations by conducting analysis of the control framework and execution of the Global Risk Assessment plan for in scope processes / locations.
- Perform Risk Assessments on control gaps identified from testing performed and ensure global adherence and consistency.
- Management of issues through various stakeholders’ deliberation and discussion
- Produce all the required deliverables and reports from reviews performed.
- Establish a culture of risk awareness.
- Participate in any emerging risk reviews identified.
- Drive full adoption and standardisation of Continuous Monitoring activities across MSS Operations including plan creation, result capture and ensuring that all key controls are monitored.
To be successful you will:
- A degree in banking / financial / management / business administration / accounting exposure
- A working knowledge of Global Markets/Security Services processes and trade lifecycle would be advantageous.
- Risk professional with at least 10 years’ combined experience in Banking Operations/Back Office Operations, Global Markets and / Securities Services business (e.g. FX, Fixed Income, Custody), Operational Risk, Compliance or External/Internal Audit in a banking environment
- Subject matter expert in Operational risk and control
- Understanding of the key control points and risk inherent in the trade lifecycle
- Leadership skills with ability to build rapport with and relate to and effectively develop a wide range of people
- Analytical mind with Excellent judgment and decision making skills to identify exceptions in process handling.
- Ability to drive out details and question procedures employed to deliver quality services.
- Organised, adaptable and self-driven to achieve collective information both formally and informally from Subject Matter Experts.
- Excellent relationship builder with strong communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and exacting standards.
- Ability to present information and recommendations to senior stakeholders
