We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of

VicePresident Wholesale Credit Approval

Role purpose

Manage credit risk and provide decisioning across various industry sectors within Wholesale Banking, exercising delegated credit authority for credit exposure to existing and new clients. Ensures appropriate lending structures and controls are in place to handle inherent and unique risks in reviewed transactions. Consults with businesses regarding appropriate credit facility structuring to meet Company standards, regulatory guidelines and client needs. Assure compliance with Bank Credit Policy and risk appetite guidelines as well as adherence to all Regulatory requirements.

Main activities: 

  • Influencing the project approach, building stakeholder buy-in around the project plan, commitments and changes
  • Driving project delivery proactively, balancing planning, scope, schedule, budget, communications and risks
  • Managing and planning resources, responsibilities and schedules
  • Establishing effective project controls and procedures and quality assurance processes
  • Managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Reporting progress, issues, dependencies and risks to project or programme leadership and committees (as appropriate) and making recommendations to influence decision making, in order to maintain progress towards delivery and benefits realisation
  • Providing management to maintain a focus on how the project aligns to wider programme objectives, where appropriate, and to the change portfolio across HSBC
  • Driving the adoption of HSBC project standards and working in alignment with HSBC project methodology at all times
  • Leading the team to meet performance targets aligned to objectives
  • Utilizing credit expertise and experience in reviewing, recommending and approving individual credit limits within assigned authority, including performing credit analysis of financial performance, management, industry and forecasted business plans, to a broad range of industries involving the Group’s customer base, ensuring adherence to all applicable credit approval procedures, Bank Credit Policy and Risk Appetite Guidelines.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5-8 years proven, progressive and broad-based experience in credit, lending and/or workout areas or equivalent.
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, related field or equivalent experience
  • Strong analytical, planning, mathematical, problem-solving, communications, financial, technical, interpersonal and diplomatic skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, evaluate and discuss credit risk in new, unusual or complex proposal structures.
