Role purpose

This position plays a vital role in upholding compliance with Basel II and Basel 3.1 standards for credit risk assessment, supporting the accurate calculation of Risk-Weighted Assets (RWAs), and ensuring the timely delivery of regulatory reports. Prompt recruitment is essential to mitigate the risk of delays, errors, or non-compliance, thereby safeguarding business continuity and maintaining high levels of operational performance.

Main activities

  • Execute essential processes to ensure compliance with group guidelines established during Basel meetings for credit risk calculation (FoTC). This includes performing reconciliations with financial reporting system (SARACEN) and validating CoRep, Pillar 1, and Pillar 3 data.
  • Implement procedures to meet Basel II requirements and support the transition to Basel 3.1 standards for credit risk calculation. This covers related projects (CoRB3), regulatory updates, and the preparation of associated reports (Pillar 1, Pillar 3, CoRep).
  • Oversee and manage RWA calculations for PRA NCCR, including the validation of data quality issues, external ratings, credit conversion factors, and additional data analysis. Ensure the timely and accurate delivery of both transactional and analytical information to stakeholders such as FoTC, CoRB3, CFO/CRO sign-offs, and provide support to LATAM sites. Assist with foundation method estimations for RWAs.
  • Collaborate across departments to review, analyse, and implement mechanisms for group documentation requirements. Coordinate with relevant teams to manage system documentation and outstanding events related to PRA, Basel II, and Basel 3.1, in alignment with group standards.
  • Support the business by providing RWA estimations to inform strategic decisions, optimise profitability, and maintain appropriate capital levels.
  • Validate and ensure the accuracy of RWA data for NCCR, contributing to the group’s objective of calculating Risk Weighted Assets globally.
  • Adhere to controls for IFRS9 ECL calculation, including comprehensive reconciliation processes. Validate both bespoke retail aggregated data and granular wholesale information.
  • Fulfil requirements set by the IRR team (Integrity of Regulatory Reporting).
  • Act as control owner for projects associated with PRA processes.
  • Maintain effective communication with Group Regulatory Reporting and LATAM sites regarding regulatory reporting matters.
  • Deliver observed RWA data to Stress Testing Teams for PRA, supporting projection activities.
  • Review and approve the Regulatory Reporting sections within Regional GSMs (transaction approvals), including analysis of regulatory policy opinions and assessment of PRA RWA impacts.
  • This role is vital for maintaining continuity in reporting deliverables. Delays in filling this position may result in missed deadlines, compliance risks, and increased pressure on existing staff, potentially leading to errors and non-compliance.
  • Given the ongoing requirements for Basel 3.1 regulatory implementation, it is imperative to fill this role promptly to ensure business continuity and sustain team performance.
