We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Operations Engineer
Role Purpose:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual contributor to join our Shared Platform Services Team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely and effective patching of systems / software across the critical IT serviced owned by Digital Business Automation platform. You will work closely with other IT teams to identify and implement security patches / software updates, ensuring that the platform’s infrastructure remains secure, compliant, and up-to-date while maintaining the expected level of quality and adhering to established standards and best practices.
The role requires flexible working via shifts and out of hours / weekend coverage on rotation basis to align with respective maintenance windows of the services.
Role Expectation
- Monitor and deploy patches and updates for operating systems and applications to ensure security and functionality are maintained.
- Work with respective security teams to identify and assess vulnerabilities in the system. Prioritize patching activities based on risk, security exposure, and business needs.
- Maintain detailed records of patching activities, including what patches were applied, the systems affected, and any issues encountered. Provide regular reports on patching status and compliance.
- Implement automated patching processes and tools to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention. Identify opportunities to reduce toil and raise remand for respective engineering / automation teams.
- Work cross-functionally with other IT teams (e.g., Systems, Security, Network, etc.) to coordinate patching efforts and minimize service disruptions.
- Assist with troubleshooting and remediation of issues arising from patching, ensuring minimal downtime and service interruption.
- Ensure patching processes align with internal policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Support auditing activities related to patch management.
- Stay current with the latest security vulnerabilities, patches, and industry best practices, making recommendations for improvements to patching strategies and tools

Qualifications Required:
Essential
- Hands on administration experience of Unix/Linux / Windows operating systems.
- Experience on scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for automation.
- Experience on IT Service Management i.e. Change Management, Incident Management, Problem Management and understanding of OLAs and SLAs.
- Experience on DevOps processes and Agile methodologies – Scrum, Kanban
- Knowledge of cryptography (SSL/TLS) security.
- Knowledge and experience with working in High Available environments (OS based cluster software)
- Good analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- The ability to manage self-workload, set and meet customer expectations.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Fluent English is mandatory.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to managing patching activities.
- Strong sense of 'do the right thing' in relation to standards and governance.
Desirable
- Experience administrating VCS (Veritas Cluster Server).
- Experience of using Service Now, Confluence, Jira.
Understanding of Products like Sterling Integrator / Sterling File Gateway, Connect:Direct, etc. and Workload Automation e.g. Control-M would be an advantage.
Lenguage Level:
- English level – Advanced English profienc C1.
