We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Network Markets Team Leader

Overall Summary of the Job:

Markets & Securities Services (MSS) Operations provides operational and process support to the Markets & Securities Services businesses. Markets & Securities Services delivers access to financial markets, liquidity and risk management solutions for institutional investors, corporates and governments, supported by specialized services across multiple asset classes. This position has direct responsibility for operational processing across key MSS areas, including:

•             Asset Services/Custody

•             Fixed Income

•             Cash Equities

•             Equity Derivatives.

The position reports to the Securities Services Operations Head in New York and the MSS Operations Head in HSBC’s Global Service Centre in Mexico.

This position supervises several Mexico-based teams to deliver safe, accurate and timely day-to-day operations. The role ensures daily tasks are completed efficiently, with strong awareness of non-financial risk, and in close collaboration with local and NY colleagues and supervisors

As the local team leader, this position is accountable for performance management, work prioritization and coverage planning, and associated administrative responsibilities. The role has day-to-day management responsibility for a team of 30+ employees.

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

•             Lead and oversee daily operational delivery for the Mexico team, ensuring service levels, quality and timeliness are consistently met.

•             Maintain a strong understanding of MSS products and associated lifecycle events.

•             Oversee end-to-end corporate actions processing, including event capture/data scrubbing, elections, processing, and cash/stock reconciliation.

•             Act as a key liaison with internal and external stakeholders, building strong working relationships and ensuring effective issue resolution.

•             Oversee cash and stock record reconciliations, ensuring breaks are investigated, resolved and escalated appropriately within agreed timelines.

•             Drive continuous improvement and Innovation by identifying process gaps, strengthening controls, reducing operational risk, and improving efficiency.

•             Provide effective leadership: coaching, performance management, development planning, engagement and succession planning.

Decision-Making Responsibility:

•             Assess situations independently, consulting and escalating where appropriate.

•             Influence and collaborate effectively with peers, team members and business partners.

•             Take ownership and accountability for individual and team outcomes.

•             Interpret corporate action notices and determine the appropriate HSBC response in line with procedures and controls.

•             Continually assess operational risks associated with the role and the business, considering changes in market conditions, legal/regulatory requirements, operating practices, organizational changes and technology.

•             Ensure regulatory requirements are understood and met, and that work is performed in line with prescribed procedures.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

•             Extensive experience in custody/asset servicing operations.

•             Proved experience managing a corporate actions team.

•             Strong knowledge of domestic markets, with emphasis on equity products; plus knowledge of US markets across fixed income and equities.

•             Strong working knowledge of DTCC platform and corporate actions processing.

•             Strong understanding of relevant industry regulations and rules (US and Mexico).

•             Strong risk mindset, high sense of urgency and intellectual curiosity.

•             Detailed knowledge of US corporate action event types, including mandatory events (e.g., redemptions, reverse/forward splits, stock dividends, mergers).

•             Strong communication skills and stakeholder management capability.

•             Strong PC skills (Excel and Word); detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
