We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of
Head of IBM Z Mexico, Core Enterprise Platforms
Role purpose
The Head of IBM Z Mexico will manage teams from multiple disciplines to support the day-to-day operations of the IBM Z platform in Mexico. IBM Z is one of the critical platforms in HSBC supporting the Core Banking, Global Payment, Mobile Banking and other important business services.
There will be multiple functions within the role which will include IBM Z hardware, software, network, storage, performance, middleware including CICS, DB2 and zCEE with the objectives to closely working with the IBM Z Global teams to continuously improve the operational resiliency, observability, security and compliance of the platform and support the initiatives that add values to HSBC in achieving its global strategies and objectives.
Main activities:
- Ownership of the IBM Z platform in Mexico for multiple technology pillars including hardware, software, storage, network, performance, OLTP, DB and zCEE.
- Manage the infrastructure services of IBM Z platform including but not limited to product deployment and implementation, incident and problem management, change management, monitoring and alerting and production support.
- Align with the global best practice, engineering vision, strategies, policies, processes and procedures for IBM Z platform to aid and improve performance and quality of services.
- Ensure that global strategies and processes are in place to meet platform objectives and operational needs in terms of price, quality and delivery targets.
- Manage stakeholders’ expectations and working relationship with the teams with focus on transparency and collaboration.
- Foster relationships/partnerships with key stakeholders including local business and application teams to ensure the platform services meet the business priority.
- Partner with other domains including batching scheduling, cyber security, automations and developer services to ensure proper scope, resources, and costs allocated to deliver best value to customers.
- Proactively managing the risks associated with the platform and execute the agreed remediation plan for all identified risks and issues.
- Deploy new technology and processes to support the HSBC Strategy, improving the operational resiliency, cyber resiliency, uplift the testing capabilities and deploy AI at scale.
- Facilitate and lead cross team collaborations both on and off IBM Z platform.
Requirements
- Written and Spoken Technical English – upper intermediate level - Mandatory
- Has extensive experience of the IBM Z infrastructure environment.
- Has worked extensively with multi-regional and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Strong leadership and management skills together with the ability to motivate staff from a variety of backgrounds.
- Has the ability to develop a culture that embraces innovation, and challenges existing paradigms.
- Has personal attributes that include being a self-starter, collaborative, curious, strong work ethic, highly motivated, adaptable and team orientated.
- Has good communications skills and ability to motivate and communicate at all levels of the organization.
- Has good understanding of development and banking applications.
- Has provided leadership and management to build high-performing teams and continuously upskill team members to keep them current through development programs.
- Must have excellent problem determination skills as well as excellent organisational skills and be a true team player.
- Be able to build effective networks across different areas within HSBC developing relationships based on mutual trust and encouraging others to do the same.
- A comprehensive understanding of risk management and proven experience of ensuring own and others' compliance with relevant regulatory processes.
- Be genuinely passionate in building modern day solutions that work and simplify the current processes with a “customer first” disposition.
