As an experienced Senior Associate, your strong relationship and stakeholder management skills will be key as you partner with the portfolio Director to help our high-quality corporate clients achieve their ambitions through the growth and delivery of commercially sustainable solutions and products.

 

In doing so, you will work closely with product partners, and risk stewards in the origination, structuring, execution and delivery of tailored solutions across a broad range of products, services and markets, developing and maintaining a diversified portfolio, as part of an experiencd high performing team.  Tailored solutions include a suite of products across credit & lending, transactional banking, working capital and trade finance, foreign exchange, derivatives, sustainable finance, syndicated & acquisition finance, debt capital markets, project financing, and innovative financing structures/capital management.

Your main responsibilities will include assisting the portfolio Director to:

 

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with new and existing clients, through identifying client needs and scoping, cross-selling and coordinating origination across the HSBC product suite and geographies.
  • Developing and maintaining an understanding of our clients’ industries and associated market dynamics locally and globally to enhance dialogue with clients and ability to provide solutions which meet their needs.
  • Working with the portfolio Director to originate revenue opportunities, including client plans, credit and capital management submissions, deal pipelining and call reporting.
  • Analysing financial statements and company cashflows to identify and mitigate risk, and identify opportunities.
  • Approaching solutions and origination activities in an innovative way, acting as a pitch-book lead across the product set and actively contributing to meetings and stakeholder discussions.
  • Ensuring strong adherence to credit policies (including ongoing monitoring of clients), financial crime compliance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinating with the team’s dedicated Relationship Service Manager to ensure administrative task completion aligned with client and internal reporting requirements.
  • Coordinating with the team’s Business Credit Office stakeholders regarding completion and accuracy of credit and legal documentation.
  • Maintaining a strong focus on risk management, sound governance & controls underpinned by a collaborative / speak up culture.

 

To be successful in this role, you will bring: 

 

  • Significant demonstrated experience in corporate banking with proven ability to successfully work with corporate customers and their varying banking requirements.
  • A fundamental understanding of key corporate banking products including bilateral and syndicated loans, trade finance, transactional banking and treasury solutions, would be an advantage.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and negotiation skills, with a demonstrated ability to build strong and lasting internal and external stakeholder relationships at all levels including clients, peers, product specialists, industry specialists and credit risk personnel.
  • Ability to produce high quality client materials, discern legal documentation, and draft approval & management of credit papers.
  • Strong problem solving and research skills, resourcefulness, sound commercial judgement, and determination to succeed.
  • High level of curiosity and a desire to learn, shape & adapt financing solutions in an evolving space, with the ability to provide analytical and tactical support to Coverage Banker(s).
  • Strong familiarity with APLMA loan documentation and New Zealand security structures is desirable.
  • Understanding and awareness of compliance obligations and risk management frameworks.
  • Ability to undertake and prepare analysis of the client’s industry, competition, management & strategic positioning, financial and other relevant measures.
  • A degree in Finance, Business, Accountancy, Law or related disciplines - related post graduate qualifications such as Master of Finance, CFA, CPA, or similar will be highly regarded.

 

Preference will be given to candidates who hold New Zealand Citizenship/PR or Australian Citizenship, or who can show they currently have unrestricted work rights in New Zealand without limitations.
