Credit & Capital Management (C&CM) under Corporate and Institutional Banking are in the process of implementing a new, modern, and consistent end-to-end operating model. A key component of this operating model is the introduction of a first line credit management office, the Business Credit Office (BCO), creating a single client-facing, customer service-oriented control point for all Credit and Lending (C&L) workflow. These responsibilities include facility structuring, credit analysis and rating recommendations, client credit monitoring tasks, credit terms and document negotiation.

 

Taking on the role of BCO Analyst based in our Auckland office, you will provide credit management support to Relationship Managers (RMs) / Coverage, facilitating new deal flow, client review and renewal activities. You will also have responsibility for carrying out customer outreach, research, and both financial and credit analysis on behalf of the Relationship Managers, ensuring exemplary risk management acumen and control standards are embedded within the end-to-end Credit & Lending process.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Supporting the end-to-end Credit & Lending servicing journey, ensuring a seamless and efficient process for customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Executing risk analysis of new and existing deals including but not limited to business, industry, credit, transition and technical risk analysis as well as both internal and external legal documentation negotiations.
  • Combining client relationship management with strong credit risk assessment and credit management capabilities ensuring the required credit quality & requisite returns on risk.
  • Maintaining HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit recommendations, along with addressing any issues raised by external regulators.
  • Engaging in constructive and consistent dialogue with risk partners and clients, in a manner that effectively balances commercial outcomes and risk management.
  • Working with the BCO Team Lead to ensure adequate credit risk management controls are built into the operational process and robust market intelligence is in place to track and measure risk against agreed thresholds.
  • Delivery of BCO tasks as aligned with agreed objectives and key results (OKRs), Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

 

Requirements:

 

  • Relevant work experience in corporate banking or related fields as a credit/financial analyst or relationship manager, with sound credit and financial analysis skills.
  • Strong understanding of various financing instruments and banking products for Corporate & Institutional banking.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong relationships, navigate complex situations and drive alignment among senior leaders.
  • Comprehensive understanding of risk management and proven experience in ensuring compliance (self and others) with organisational and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong commercial mindset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team, and influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organisation.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.

 

Preference will be given to candidates who hold New Zealand PR / Citizenship or Australian Citizenship, or who can demonstrate current unrestricted work rights in New Zealand without limitations.
