As an Associate, you will support Relationship Managers to work with clients in achieving their ambitions through the growth and delivery of profitable solutions and products.  In doing so, you will work closely with relationship coverage, product partners, and risk stewards and will support relationship coverage in leading, originating, structuring, executing and delivering tailored solutions across a broad range of products, services and markets. You will work with high-quality corporate clients, developing a diversified portfolio, while being supported by an experiencd high growth team with opportunities for future growth over time with the global HSBC network.

 

This is a perfect opportunity to build on your existing corporate banking experience and develop the skills of a a Relationship Manager overtime.

 

Your main responsibilities will include assisting the Relationship Managers to:

 

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with new and existing clients, identifying client needs, scoping, cross-selling and coordinating origination across HSBC’s product suite and geographies.
  • Developing and maintaining an understanding of our clients’ industries and associated markets, including both local and global dynamics, to enhance problem solving.
  • Analysing financial statements and company cashflows to identify and mitigate risk, and identify opportunities.
  • Taking an innovative approach to solutions and origination activities, acting as a pitch-book lead across the product set, mobilising stakeholders and bank’s SMEs (product, senior management) and contributing to meetings and stakeholder discussions.
  • Ensuring strong adherence to credit policies (including ongoing monitoring of clients), financial crime compliance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinating with the team’s dedicated Relationship Service Manager to ensure administrative tasks are completed in line with client requirements and internal reporting needs.
  • Coordinating with the team’s Business Credit Office Manager / Analyst to ensure credit and legal documentation related tasks are completed in line with requirements.
  • Working with the Coverage Banker to originate revenue opportunities, initiating and finalising client plans, preparing and presenting Credit and Capital Management submissions and presenting them (for appetite and pricing approvals), maintaining deal pipelines, call reports and working with the client service team.
  • Maintain a strong focus on risk management, collaborative culture, sound governance & controls, escalating and speaking up when required, supporting mitigation of KYC risk in addition to distribution of Customer Due Diligence materials across the network.

 

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

 

  • Proven ability to successfully work with corporate customers and their varying banking requirements.
  • Experience in a corporate / institutional finance setting with a fundamental understanding of key corporate banking products including bilateral and syndicated loans, trade finance, transactional banking and treasury solutions.
  • Knowledge in one or more of the following sectors would be considered advantageous – consumer (including food, beverages, agriculture), retail, diversified industrials, higher education and TMT.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong and lasting relationships with internal and external parties.
  • Strong familiarity with APLMA loan documentation and New Zealand security structures is desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate with people at all levels including clients, peers, product specialists, industry specialists and credit risk personnel.
  • High levels of self-motivation, commitment and a desire to succeed.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • A natural focus on providing superior customer service with a genuine desire to consistently meet and exceed customer expectations
  • A degree in Finance, Business, Accountancy, Law or related disciplines - related post graduate qualifications such as Master of Finance, CFA, CPA, or similar will be highly regarded.

 

Preference will be given to candidates who hold New Zealand or Australian Citizenship, New Zealand Permanent Residency, or who can demonstrate current unrestricted work rights in New Zealand without limitations.
