About the business area
Our technology teams sit within our Group Chief Information Office (GCIO), building the digital platforms, systems, and products our customers and colleagues use every day, keeping assets and data secure, and delivering exceptional digital experiences.
Who you are
We’re looking for STEM students who already possess coding skills and are eager to expand their tech knowledge. You enjoy solving problems, collaborating with others, and using technology to make a difference. You don’t need to have all the answers – just a passion for learning, an open mindset, and a collaborative spirit.
You could be a great fit if you’re:
- A natural collaborator: You enjoy working with diverse teams and you’re confident communicating with people at all levels, from your peers to those more senior than you.
- Self-motivated and proactive: You spot opportunities, ask great questions, and always look for ways to grow.
- Eager to learn: Tech doesn’t stand still – and neither do you. You’re excited to explore new tools, platforms, and ideas, and deepen your coding expertise.
- Self-aware and emotionally intelligent: You understand how to adapt in unfamiliar situations and are thoughtful in how you communicate with others.
- A practical problem-solver: You’re great at breaking down challenges and thinking logically, using your coding skills to create innovative solutions.

Additional information
This insight programme offers candidates the potential opportunity to fast-track onto our March 2027 graduate programme based in Sheffield or further experiences, however this is not a guarantee.
This particular program does not satisfy the Home Office eligibility criteria for visa sponsorship. We therefore can only progress applications from candidates who can demonstrate that they are eligible to work in the UK without HSBC sponsorship for the full duration of, and beyond, the programme end date. We cannot progress applications from candidates who apply with a graduate visa as you would not be eligible for sponsorship by HSBC when your current visa expires. You will need to confirm what visa you hold, if any, and its expiry date when you apply for us to verify your eligibility when you apply.
Due to the limited number of places on our insight programme, we are only able to consider candidates who will not require onward sponsorship after graduation.
