Our International Wealth and Premier Banking (IWPB) business serves over 40 million customers globally, ranging from retail customers to ultra-high net worth individuals and their families. We help them to take care of their day-to-day finances and manage, protect and grow their wealth.

Asset Management invests on behalf of HSBC’s worldwide customer base of retail and private clients, intermediaries, corporates and institutions. It connects our clients with investment opportunities around the world through an international network of offices.

What you'll do

You’ll work with investment teams on research, portfolio activity and analysis that supports decision-making. You could help explore investment opportunities, market trends and industry insights, build your analysis and coding skills, and learn how portfolio construction and management work in practice. You may also build your understanding of asset classes, HSBC products and hedge funds, while working with colleagues across the team to deliver against client needs and business priorities. It’s a practical role where you’ll manage your own workload, contribute ideas and build confidence working with people at different levels. The internship also includes structured assessments aligned to securing a graduate role, giving you chances to demonstrate how you think, collaborate and deliver, through tasks such as project work, presentations, interviews or skills-based evaluations.

What you'll learn

You’ll build your investment foundation through a week of structured training focused on both technical and behavioural skills, followed by continuous on-the-job learning. As the internship progresses, you’ll deepen your understanding of how investment decisions are made, how research supports outcomes, and how teams work in a fast-paced, detail-focused environment. You’ll also strengthen your confidence in applying analytical thinking to real projects and understanding the role of research in shaping investment choices. The programme is designed to help you learn by doing, with support that keeps the learning practical and relevant. By the end, you’ll have a stronger understanding of investments and a clearer sense of how your skills fit in this space.

You’ll work in the investments side of International Wealth and Premier Banking, in a specialist environment focused on research, portfolio-related activity and market insight. It’s a collaborative office culture where investment professionals work closely together and where ideas, analysis and perspectives are shared across the team. You’ll be part of a setting that values precision, curiosity and strong teamwork, with exposure to colleagues working across products, asset classes and investment themes.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, you must:

• Be available to work full time for 10 weeks commencing June 2027
• Have obtained, or expect to achieve, a 2:1 degree classification or higher, or an overseas equivalent
• Be expecting to graduate in 2028
• Be in the penultimate year of your undergraduate studies
• Be fluent in English
