What you'll do

You’ll join an investment banking team and support live client work across Strategic Advisory, Corporate Finance or Financing Solutions. Day to day, you could research companies and market conditions, review financial statements, support credit analysis, and help prepare pitchbooks, investment memos and client presentations. You’ll also contribute to financial modelling and valuation tasks, working closely with experienced bankers to understand how deals progress from origination through to execution. Throughout the internship, you’ll collaborate across teams and geographies, balancing multiple deadlines and producing high-quality work with strong attention to detail. The internship also includes structured assessments aligned to securing a graduate role, giving you chances to demonstrate how you think, collaborate and deliver, through tasks such as project work, presentations, interviews or skills-based evaluations.

What you'll learn

You’ll build your investment banking foundation through a mix of structured training and practical learning. Starting with a week of dedicated training led by external experts, you’ll develop a stronger understanding of financial statements, valuation approaches, modelling concepts and how live deals move from idea to execution. You’ll also strengthen professional skills that matter in this environment, including communication, teamwork, attention to detail and judgement under pressure. The internship is designed to help you connect technical concepts to real client work, so the learning feels relevant from the start. By the end, you’ll have a clearer understanding of HSBC, investment banking and where your strengths could fit in the longer term.

Where you'll work

You’ll work in Corporate and Institutional Banking, within a specialist investment banking team focused on sectors, products or transactions. Depending on your placement, that could be Strategic Advisory, Corporate Finance or Financing Solutions. It’s a high-performing office environment where interns work alongside experienced bankers in close-knit deal teams. You’ll be part of a collaborative culture that values precision, teamwork and professionalism, with strong links to colleagues across global offices and product areas.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, you must:

• Be available to work full time from March 2027 onwards
• Have obtained, or expect to achieve, a 2:1 degree classification or higher, or an overseas equivalent
• Be fluent in English
• Have completed studies, or will have complete them by the end of March 2027
