About the business area

Group Infrastructure helps keep HSBC running smoothly behind the scenes, connecting the teams, systems and services that support the bank every day. It’s where big-picture thinking meets real business impact, helping create the foundations that let millions of customers and colleagues stay connected.

Treasury helps HSBC stay financially strong and ready for what’s next. It manages things like interest rate risk, capital and liquidity so the bank can meet its commitments and support customers with confidence.

Who you are

You’re naturally curious and like getting beyond the surface of a problem to understand what’s really going on. You enjoy working with numbers, spotting trends and using insight to support better decisions. You don’t need to arrive with deep finance knowledge — what matters is your willingness to learn, your analytical mindset and how you work with others. You could be a great fit if you ask thoughtful questions, communicate clearly and enjoy turning complex information into something useful and understandable. You value strong relationships, because you know trust and collaboration matter. You also reflect on your work and look for ways to improve. If you’re interested in treasury, data and how financial decisions shape a global organisation, this role could be a great place to start.

What you'll do

You’ll work with Treasury teams on analysis that helps HSBC manage liquidity, capital and risk. You could review complex financial data, use Python to explore large datasets and visualise trends, and support reporting or decision-making with clearer insight. Depending on your rotation, you may work on areas such as interest rate risk, funding, liquidity or markets treasury, and help identify ways to improve reporting through digital, AI or automation tools. You’ll work with colleagues across Treasury and Finance, and see how analysis supports decisions that matter across the bank. It’s practical, data-led work with exposure to core treasury activity.

What you'll learn

This two-year programme is designed to give you a deep understanding of Treasury through structured rotations, expert training and recognised qualifications. Across four six-month placements, you could build knowledge in areas such as interest rate risk in the banking book, funding, liquidity, Markets Treasury and Finance. You’ll also study for CISI Investment Securities Qualifications in Derivatives and UK Financial Regulation, while accessing specialist learning through platforms such as Fitch, Degreed Pathways, Decoded Digital & Data Literacy, and Coursera. Alongside technical learning, you’ll strengthen your analytical thinking and commercial judgement in a function that helps keep HSBC financially resilient. By the end, you’ll have a stronger grasp of treasury fundamentals and how they shape major business decisions.

Where you'll work

You’ll work in Group Infrastructure, within Treasury teams that help manage HSBC’s financial resources across the bank. It’s a specialist environment where colleagues across treasury, finance and wider business functions work together on liquidity, capital and risk-related priorities. You’ll be part of a professional office culture that values analytical thinking, collaboration and clear communication. Expect a setting where teams combine technical expertise with a broader view of how the bank operates and plans for the future.
