What you'll do

You’ll work with Finance teams on analysis that supports important business decisions. You could review complex financial data, help identify opportunities to improve reporting through digital or AI tools, and turn trends into clear recommendations for stakeholders. You may support work across balance sheet management, regulatory reporting, tax or transformation projects, depending on your team. You’ll work with colleagues across Finance and the wider bank, helping connect data, insight and decision-making. It’s a practical introduction to how finance analysis supports strategy, performance and change. The internship also includes structured assessments aligned to securing a graduate role, giving you chances to demonstrate how you think, collaborate and deliver, through tasks such as project work, presentations, interviews or skills-based evaluations.

What you'll learn

Over 10 weeks, you’ll join a finance team and build a clearer understanding of how business analysis supports decision-making at HSBC. Through technical training, skills coaching and hands-on work, you’ll strengthen your knowledge of financial concepts, reporting and market trends, and learn how they influence major business decisions. You’ll also build confidence in turning data into insight and communicating your thinking clearly in a professional environment. The internship is designed to help you connect analytical work to real business outcomes, so the learning feels practical from the start. By the end, you’ll have a stronger foundation in finance-focused analysis and a clearer sense of where this path could take you.

Where you'll work

You’ll work in Group Infrastructure, within Finance teams that support decision-making across HSBC. It’s a professional environment where finance specialists partner with colleagues across the bank on reporting, balance sheet management, tax and transformation priorities. You’ll be part of a collaborative office culture that values insight, accuracy and strong stakeholder relationships. Expect a setting close to the centre of the bank, where finance teams help shape strategic direction through partnership and analysis.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, you must:

• Be available to work full time for 10 weeks commencing June 2027
• Have obtained, or expect to achieve, a 2:1 degree classification or higher, or an overseas equivalent
• Be expecting to graduate in 2028
• Be in the penultimate year of your undergraduate studies
• Be fluent in English
