About the business area

Group Infrastructure helps keep HSBC running smoothly behind the scenes, connecting the teams, systems and services that support the bank every day. It’s where big-picture thinking meets real business impact, helping create the foundations that let millions of customers and colleagues stay connected.

Finance helps keep HSBC running smoothly by turning complex numbers into clear insight, from reporting and forecasting to tax, treasury and investor updates. Treasury helps HSBC stay financially strong and ready for what’s next by managing areas such as capital, liquidity and interest rate risk, so the bank can meet its commitments and support customers with confidence.

Who you are

You’re curious, analytical and interested in how numbers, data and insight shape big decisions. You enjoy solving problems, spotting patterns and turning complex information into something clear and useful. You don’t need to arrive with deep finance or treasury knowledge — what matters is your willingness to learn, your problem-solving mindset and how you work with others. You could be a great fit if you ask thoughtful questions, communicate clearly and enjoy working through challenges from different angles. You’re organised, adaptable and open to feedback, with the confidence to keep learning in a fast-moving environment. If you’re interested in how financial insight and treasury activity help a global bank stay strong, resilient and ready for the future, this could be a strong fit.

What you'll do

You’ll work with Finance and Treasury teams on analysis that supports business-critical decisions. You could help review financial and treasury data, identify trends, support reporting and turn findings into clear recommendations for stakeholders. Depending on your placement, you may contribute to work linked to planning and analysis, liquidity, capital, balance sheet management, regulatory reporting or transformation activity. You may also help improve reporting through digital, AI or automation tools, and support teams by preparing summaries, presentations or dashboards. It’s a practical role where you’ll see how analysis supports strategy, resilience and decision-making across the bank.

What you'll learn

You’ll build a broader understanding of how Finance and Treasury work together to support HSBC’s performance, resilience and future planning. Through structured learning, on-the-job experience and support from colleagues, you’ll deepen your knowledge of financial reporting, planning, liquidity, capital and risk-related decision-making. You’ll also strengthen your analytical thinking, communication and stakeholder skills while learning how data, digital tools and automation can improve insight and efficiency. By the end of the internship, you’ll have a clearer view of how these teams support the bank and a stronger foundation for a future career in analytical or transformation-focused roles.

Where you'll work

You’ll work in Group Infrastructure, alongside Finance and Treasury teams that support decision-making across HSBC. It’s a professional, collaborative environment where specialists partner with colleagues across the bank on reporting, planning, liquidity, capital and transformation priorities. You’ll be part of an office culture that values insight, accuracy and teamwork, with exposure to teams that sit close to the centre of the bank and help shape strategic direction.
