Our International Wealth and Premier Banking (IWPB) business serves over 40 million customers globally, ranging from retail customers to ultra-high net worth individuals and their families. We help them to take care of their day-to-day finances and manage, protect and grow their wealth.

 

Asset Management invests on behalf of HSBC’s worldwide customer base of retail and private clients, intermediaries, corporates and institutions. It connects our clients with investment opportunities around the world through an international network of offices.

An interest in develops and manages investment management products and services for clients around the world, from individual retail customers to major multinational corporate clients, sovereign wealth funds and financial institution clients. You don’t need to arrive with every answer, but you should bring intellectual curiosity, sound judgement and a genuine interest in helping deliver strong outcomes for clients.

 

 

What you'll do

 

You’ll gain experience across Asset Management, with exposure to both investment specialist and alternatives-focused work. You could support teams analysing economic developments, market trends and investment opportunities, helping turn research into insight for internal stakeholders and clients. Depending on your rotation or team, you may contribute to work linked to stock selection, portfolio construction, ongoing portfolio management or specialist capability areas such as private markets, real estate or private debt. You’ll predominantly work with investment teams, while also gaining broader exposure through projects or job shadowing in areas such as sales and operations to understand the wider business. Along the way, you’ll help prepare presentations, support analysis and build a practical understanding of how investment ideas are developed and delivered in a client-focused environment.

You’ll build deep technical and commercial understanding through structured development, hands-on experience and support from your team. From day one, you’ll have a dedicated line manager and home team to help you build confidence, strengthen your expertise and feel connected to the business. You’ll deepen your understanding of investment processes, financial markets, portfolio construction and the role of alternatives within broader client solutions. You’ll also further develop practical skills such as financial modelling, research, analysis and communicating investment ideas clearly. Support from mentors, programme alumni and colleagues across the business will help you grow your network and navigate your development. By the end of the programme, you’ll have a stronger foundation in asset management, broader business understanding and the skills to continue building your career in investments.

 

 

Where you'll work

 

You’ll work in Asset Management within International Wealth and Premier Banking. It’s a collaborative environment where investment teams, specialist capability areas and business partners work together to support clients across a range of markets and asset classes. You’ll be part of a professional office culture that values insight, initiative and continuous learning, with exposure to both the technical side of investing and the wider business activities that help deliver investment solutions to clients. Expect to work closely with experienced colleagues in an international setting shaped by market developments, client needs and long-term growth opportunities.

 

 

Eligibility Criteria

 

To be eligible, you must:

  • Be available to work full time from July 2027 onwards 
  • Have obtained, or expect to achieve, a minimum GPA of 4.0/5.0 or 3.2/4.0 (or overseas equivalent, as shown on your official university transcript/degree certificate)
  • Be fluent in English, knowledge of Mandarin/Cantonese would be an advantage
  • Be a recent graduate with less than 2 years of full-time job experience, or will you have graduated by July 2027 
  • We will consider candidates that require visa sponsorship for this role
